Mert,
Did you receive your Head Trip helmet yet? If so, what do you think of it?

Mert & shakey, I plan to buy the head trip DOT helmet (white in color) with visor and extra ear pads. I would really like to know what your opinion is of it. I would imagine the carbon / kevlar combination would be really light in weight.

Jerry, It's a great half helmet. During my trip in August I came to appreciate it light weight. I hardly noticed I was wearing one. Head Trip is in supposed to be introducing a half helmet with a removable neck curtain this winter. I haven't heard from Mert, but I'd buy another in a skinny minute. The carbon fiber/kevlar construction makes it very light. My only complaint, and it's a minor one, is the strap fastener. I fumble with it on occasion. I suppose you could chalk that up to old age. By the way, they're definately more compact than the typical half helmets. I plan on getting one of their new models with the neck curtain for cold weather riding. Their inserts for sizing may strike you as a bit awkward but works really well. Buy one, you'll like it. Shakey

Shakey, Thanks for the reply. I forgot to ask. Did you get the DOT helmet or non-dot?

Hey Shakey,
YES. The Head Trip helmet landed on my door step this week. I used it for the first time yesterday.
What I like: lightweight, very comfortable. It just might get me to start being a regular--or more regular helmet user.
What will take some getting used to: The quick release is new to me and not so quick to release.
Additionally, I had to do a lot of strap adjusting to find the right fit and still haven't found it. For speeds up to 50 mph all seems fine. But, at "highway" speeds it lifts right up and is very annoying. I might have to try one of the thicker foam inserts.
Other wise I am quite pleased.
Thanks for the inquiry/reminder post.

Jerry, I purchased the DOT. Mert, try adjusting with the foam insert. I too am fumbling with the quick relaease, but you do get used to it. I've have no trouble at all wearing it at speed (80-85) so it might be a size adjustment problem in your case. I can't say enough good about mine. I just hope the new model is as good when I get it.

Hey Jerry, I have the DOT version as well. I got it about a month ago. I like everything about it. Like Mert and Shakey said you have to play around with the adjustments to get it to fit just right. It's so light you hardley know you have a helmet on.

Is it a good helmet or what Van? The thing weighs nothing.
