oh that chain is plenty lubed, along with the rest of the bike from the oil it used to spew everywhere. I think the rust on that nut came from the two years it sat uncovered and unridden.

Rat bike to be sure but nothing wrong with that. I rode many a rat bike over the years. Can either have fun with it as a rat or make it a nice clean bike. As a rat bike it's kinda like a fat chick......

both are fun to ride but wouldn't want your friends to see you.

despite the bike's intentional ratty appearance there has actually been quite a bit of work go into it and all of it has been done by a friend of mine and I, and of course with some ideas that I got from here. I'll list what I can remember: Harley dog bone risers (triple trees drilled) Front fender removed and mount trimmed airbox hacked out with a sawzall, mounting tabs trimmed battery moved with homemade steel mud flap type mount homemade carb brace ignition replaced (key was broken in the ignition and fell out on the trailer ride home!) homemade front sprocket guard (haha!) homemade lathe turned (by a friend of mine) stainless bar end mirror mount. front wheel bearings replaced re-jetted, 150 mains and 42 pilots Slides drilled free-bee rear harley turn signals e-bay'd taillight w/mount e-bay'd NOS $35 exhaust to replace the $650 Sceptre's e-bay'd $70 progressive shocks (had to make shims to get them to fit on the posts) hacked fender engine side covers replaced The brass plug in the oil filler cap is the result of a creative but unsuccessful attempt to get my engine to stop pumping oil out of the breather (long story). And for the record, you CAN make a newer style clutch cover work on an older model. I just don't recommend it. Not much has seemed to be easy but we're learning and having fun.
Future plans include paint (that I also plan to do myself), cheap-o solo seat, blacked out fork lowers, blacked out front wheel hub, I've thought about blacking out the front wheel but I'm not sure how it would look. I also plan to remove the luggage rack and P-pad and maybe make some different fender supports or possibly put on a different fender all together. But before I do that I have to get the fiance a bike to ride.

No need to justify anything I was just pulling your leg , like I said I have ridden many a rat bike. My chopper is at the moment a rat bike I rode so many miles on it that they just took their toll. It was show quality when I first did it but now it would need to all come apart and be done again to bring it back to that. I love that bike rat or not. I wasn't knocking your ride just having some fun.
