As I was tailgaiting this maroon in a older Volvo station wagon.He was doing 40 in a 45 and I was taking the cage to work today. I noticed he had a bumper sticker that said.
"Dont get mad at ME Dummy, I'm saving YOU gas".

I thought it was funny anyway...I still wanted to run him off the freakin road,,,but the sticker was funny.

You know, that may be as fast as his cage would go. Especially if it was a diesel.

That is what I used to do Bill. Now I decided the idiots that populate this world are not worth my time or safety. I keep doin' what I'm doin' 'til I can let them get a way from. Especially on the bike. I usually let them know who I think is #1. C'mon, I can't get that mellow,:)

When someone tailgates me in my truck, I generally keep an eye on them in the rear-view and wait until they turn their head to look at something other than the road, then quickly downshift (so there is no brake light to alert them). They will usually stay back after that, and will remember the lesson later when they are washing the stain out of their pants.

my thoughts are if you're in the fast/passing lane (far left here in the states)doing 80 and someone is closing in on your back side pull over you're not going fast enough...let them by...if you're doing 75 (10 MPH over the speed limit in most of the states) Pull over you're not going fast enough...if you ARE going the speed limit (in the far left lane) and there is a line of cars behind you and nothing but clear road in front of you and you DON'T pull over YOU ARE AN ASSHAT PULL-THE-PUCK OVER....
If you are not in the passing lane and someone is so close you can't see their headlamps in your rear view...THEY are the ASSHAT!!! SLAM on your breaks and brace for impact...

Gone are the days when people were even remotely aware that there are other drivers on the road...We/they have become so self involved...that we not only don't notice our surroundings on the road...but if perchance we DO notice...we often don't care...or adopt a "screw-them-I'm-doing-what-I-want-to" attitude...

If you are in the 'fastlane/passing lane' and someone is closing on you....PULL OVER...I don't care if you're doing 100MPH...If you didn't SEE them closing on you...well as I said...we tend to be self involved...Unless of course they cut in behind you then that's different...

NOTE: None of these rules (of mine) apply to heavy traffic in ANY lanes or to any other lane OTHER than the FAST/PASSING lane...

And for cripes sake...Flash your lights as you approach (remember when people did that)
AND if someone is behind you flashing their lights....PULL OVER!!!

Sorry for the rant but NOT MUCH induces me to qualify for anger management FASTER than some total and complete asshat in the passing lane doing 65 while cars fly by them on the right over and over...and they STILL REFUSE to pull out of the way!!!

I have to agree with Rob..I hate that guy who wont get out of the passing lane....Your doing the speed limit....got it ,great...now move over.
Its way more unsafe to force all the other vehicles to pass you on the right.Your Prius is not suposed to be a rolling roadblock

Amen Rob!! I hate it when people think they have any business enforcing a rule themself, or whatever is going thru their head... like the guy who thinks he's doing the world a favor by saving US gas. A steady foot will do WAY more for milage than speed. Plus, but cars are geared much higher these days than they were, so faster speeds are just as efficient.

This tailgating issue reminds me of a plan I've been day dreaming about.

3 things coming together tell me it's got to be done.

1) I have the extra place for a switch by the start button
2) I have vast experience with making pneumatic solenoid valve potato cannons
3) I hate tailgators, particularly on my M/C. Let me preface this by saying that I ALWAYS move over if I am not going as fast as the car in front of me and someone is trying to pass, and I drive 80mph avg on the freeway.

so, the daydream/plan is of course a rear firing canon. Before you get too alarmed, my main concern is not actually causing a wreck, just maybe some stained shorts. I'm thinking for ammo using confetti, and not pushing the button when the car behind me has anyone near him/her.

anyway, there's my rambling post for the day...
