So, oil has dropped 20% in the last few weeks. Has the price of gas dropped yet where you are? Her it was $4.30/gal and now it's all the way down to $4.15. Wow! The math is startling. How come it goes up so fast but not down??? Just venting, this is not a political discussion, just a question as to your local prices. And I know from all our friends elsewhere in the world...quit whinning, we are still way lower then everywhere else.

about 87.00 to fill my truck each week all time high was 97.00, since the rally gas has gone from 4.07 to 3.71 at the Global station (they are about .08 cheaper than every one else around)

Funny too I see more of the tanks out on the roads now as well.Diesel is still 4.59, heating oil around here generaly sell for about .10 below deisel, but i should not have to order that until December. Fire wood is going for $185.00 a cord.

In SE KY Premim is about $3.84 a gallon. Beautiful riding weather, so I ran through about 3 tanks yesterday!

Cords? You got a new steam bike or something Rob? I use coal myself, gotta build me a bin this year, used 7 face-cords last year for house heat, tried coal and much nicer and way cheaper.

I snuck out into the woods and cut & hauled 4-6 cords every fall the last 18 years. Since the "romance" long since went out of that endeavor, I'm now getting wood from some kids I know, delivered & stacked for $90/cord. I hope they don't check out East coast pricing, yikes!!
Gas? I don't know, a penny or 2 below $4..... jh

My house was built using Electric heat...sooooo they insulated the living sh!t out of it....now before everyone shrinks in horror of electric heat...it's actually NOT bad...I have TOTAL control of heating in EVERY room...not by zone, but by room...and because I can shut down any rooms I really don't use...I heat only the two Bathrooms, and both bedrooms...the bedrooms are on programmable timers so they only heat between 5:00-7:00AM and 4:00-10:00PM M-F and 7:00am-11:00 and 4:00-10:00pm S&S my work shop heats (cause I'm and IDIOT) constantly...the total increase during the heating season is between $150-$200 per month (which could be less if I isolated my heating on a seperate meter) (Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb, Mar)over the regular electric bill...I supplement with two+ cords of wood total annual heating bill is around $1,400.00... Compared to my old house in N.Reading MA (oil heat, forced hot air) about 600sq ft smaller we would burn thru about 700 gal of oil per year, (after I insulated the crap out of it and changed the sub par windows) at today's cost that would be....

That's the way to do it!
We got our wood stove the same day in 2005 that we got the Speedmaster. We've been using wood as a primary heating source ever since and have saved thousands of dollars on heating oil. All our FREE wood comes from blowdowns in the woods around us or from neighbors that have trees taken down and don't have a use for the wood.
Cutting, splitting & stacking wood is rewarding and great exercise too.

My only canundrum is the last five falls when we have a nice September/October Saturday-Sunday, I flip a coin, "heads"-ride the bike, "tails"-ride the bike. Then it gets into November, I glance at the meager woodpile and realize it should have been "tails"-get some wood-yikes!!
As a heat source I love the wood burner best. Though after renting an old farm house for eight years where the only heat was a woodburner, it sure is nice to adjust the magical wall dial and hear the oil furnace engage. I also have a wall switch that makes lights come on and faucets that somehow create both cold and hot water. Life is good

Either:
You're FOS
You filled up with corn squeez'ns at the local still
Or we're getting bent so far over the pump here in the northeast that it isn't even funny.

We are not getting bent over the pump as much as we are getting bent over the state capitol Charlie. Ct has second highest gas tax in the Nation,,California is first, Ct second, NY third.

Yota is not FOS (at least not this time.) Cheapest unleaded regular in Tulsa is $3.37 today. That's with 10% Ethanol. Real gas is a nickel or so more. Check Gasbuddy.com it will give you the lowest prices all over the country. I checked KY and it is $3.39 for the lowest price unleaded.

I was happy to fill up with super unleaded at £1.169 yesterday. Last week or week before it was £1.179 for NORMAL unleaded. I've seen normal at £1.109 , but he likes the super stuff so while it's a bit lower that it has been, I'll use it.

gas prices! Don't get me started!
In Michigan and Wisconsin I was buying regular for 3.80ish last week. in Iowa I started seeing the stations advertising their mid-grade rather than regular. Odd I thought until I saw that REGULAR WAS MORE THAN MIDGRADE! Corn in the midgrade and up. Same wacky thing in Nebraska. I thought Wyoming had them all beat with a two hoses on each pump - one with three grades of e10 and the other with regular - hold the corn. now Montana has 4 grades at each pump ranging from 85 to 91 and including 86.5! I am not making that up 86 and A HALF!
While I'm ranting, I thought you guys were kidding about poorer mileage with ethanol but this is pathetic - I'm hitting reserve 15-20 miles before I used to. I've got a suggestion: if 10% ethanol gives 10% fewer miles, let's just leave it out and sell smaller gallons (or maybe smaller litres, you guys aren't using them for anything anyway). We could even charge 5% less for the smaller measure and everyone would be happy!
End of rant. This stuff is still cheaper per mile than at home.

Gas in SE Iowa this week, 3.65 gal. Been using ethanol for years. My BA gets 50 MPG all day long. But maybe it's because I always butter and salt my corn before I use it! Works great and takes off that nasty MTBE flavor.

$3.46 for the cheap stuff, add 30 cents for what I put into the bike and the Mini. Down about 60 cents so far.

It cost me $8.50 for the Chile Relleno/Cheese Enchilada/Carnitas Taco Combination plate and two Dos Equis Amber Beers at the local El Torasco Cantina this afternoon.
(well...this thread IS about the cost of gas, isn't it???)

I did a little checking on the pellet stove thing.Seem to be about 3 grand for the stove. Fuel (right now is pretty cheap). When my old oil furnace fiannly craps out I may take a more serious look at pellets, maybe even coal,,,as we all march steadily backwards to the stone age.
