mrt202 and I plan to meet at SC11 and SC178 at 9AM this Sat. We'll end up in the Pisgah Forest somewhere. So, all you SC, NC Mtn riders get out there. I remember a number of posts in the last few weeks saying let's do it. Here's your chance. Rob and I have agreed to shower and maybe even shave so we'll be clean. No excuses...let's ride. SteveB

Hey Steve, I'm in for Saturday. I'll be at 11 and 178 at 9:00; is there a gas station in that area?

Yes, there's a gas station at that intersection.

I might be in on this one. It means that I've got to get up early to go all the way upstate but I think I can do it. Any intended route plans yet? I was thinking of taking the Daytona but it might be too hot for my race suit this time of year. I already did around 3250 miles on the speedy over the last week and a half, what's a few hundred more?

The race suit is too cool, I have to use it. Especially in western NC.

Right now the plan is to take 178 to 64, then 215 to 276 towards Pisgah Forest. There are TONS of GREAT curves on this route. Plans can change depending on the will of the people. I look forward to meeting some new faces. Hope y'all can make it.

Dangit, work just scuttled my weekend plans since there are a couple folks out on vacation or out sick. I'll be hanging out at the office on Sat and Sun.

OK! Looks like there will be more than Rob and me. Rob, I think we're attracting people now that we agreed to shower beforehand. SteveB

I was just thinking the same thing. I think I've almost got a confirmation from thruxiegirl too. I told her we don't ride like old farts or Harley riders. You know, completely upright through the curves.

Let's put our heads together and see if we can work out a timeline. If we leave 11/178 at say 9:30, we could take 215 to 276 west and be in Waynesville around 11:30 or so. We could do lunch there, then resume the intended route back down 276, or just come up with an alternate route that would suit everyone. What do ya think fellas?

You know, I was kind of OK with the fact that I might not be able to make it because of my own personal schedule. The fact that I can't go because I HAVE to be at work is killing me!

Sorry you can't make it, Greg. But I did get a confirmation from thruxiegirl. Nothing cooler than a chick who rides her own Thruxton!

I would have bet money that you'd get a positive confirmation from her once I knew I wouldn't be able to make it. Just my luck. Have fun everyone, I'll be at my desk making vroom vroom noises.

Can you meet us at 11/178 in the morning,or do you just want to join us along the way? Thruxiegirl is inviting a friend too. This could turn into a great gathering!

I'll definitely meet you guys at 11/178 in the morning. I was tempted to ride the Daytona, but it looks like it will be the Speedmaster tomorrow. The ride up to Waynesville for lunch sounds good. As far as plans after that, I'm up for anything. There's always a BRP loop for some scenic (but probably slow) riding. If 276 up is good, I'm fine with hitting it after lunch again. Wherever we end up, I'll point east and start heading back this way mid to late-afternoon. Looking forward to seeing you guys tomorrow.

Well I hope this doesn't deter anybody from coming, but at the last minute my brother and nephew asked to join us... on Harleys. I can't say no to family. We only see each other once or twice a year. I told them they were welcome to come, but it's up to them to keep up! Now I'm fixin' to shoot down the superslab to Hotlanta and pick up my son. For those who are still coming, ride safe and we'll see you in the morning.

Hmmmmmm,
Ok, it's NC and it's a tourist town, Someone pick out a BBQ House or Pancake House to meet at. I know there's a place called Maggies Pancake. Don't know anything about them.
Suggestions?

Ride report, hmmmmm. Here's mine, ride 3 hours, meet the gang in Waynesville,Nc. We have lunch, we all leave and I get left on the roadside as soon as we pull out of the parking lot from the restaurant with a flat front tire. It's gets worse after that. You probably don't really want to here "the rest of the story" Mike

Mike, sorry to hear about the flat. I 'm glad you got to meet up with some folks, but disappointed that you were left behind. No one turned back to check on you?
I really would like to hear "the rest of the story". I wouldn't want to ride 3 hours to meet up with some folks, to be left behind.
What's up? How come no one turned around to help this guy?

Red faces all around on Mike's flat. All of us owe him a big apology. What happened was we got into separate groups after lunch and afraid that each group assumed Mike was with the other. Didn't figure it out until we stopped in Brevard. Obviously calls for better group ride discipline. Embarassed and very sorry for your ordeal. SteveB

Sorry Mike. I must have been high on gas. I watched you pull over but figured you were some random guy that just wanted to say hi to the group. I didn't know you where riding with us. We stopped like four blocks away at a gas station. We are a bunch of jerks for not noticing for 40 miles. Oh by the way I lost my gas cap that day. I don't make it a habit to huff gas.

Mike, all apologies, man. I noticed you were missing when we stopped for gas a couple of blocks away. I asked if you had gone ahead with the slow guys on the Harleys and was told "yeah". I feel really bad about what happened. How embarassing! I really hope we can make it up to you somewhere down the road. It was nice to see you again, for what it's worth. I appreciate your efforts to join us.

Mike, I apologize as well. I didn't see you after we left the restaurant, but heard someone say you went by the gas station with a couple of the guys on Harleys. I thought you were in front of us on the road to Brevard. I'm really sorry.
Rob and Steve, thanks for putting this together. It was a beautiful day on some great roads. I've never scraped that many parts in one day before; my right side pipe especially took a beating Saturday. I made it home about 8:00 with about 540 miles on the clock. Charlene, I'm glad you made it back home safe despite breathing in the gas fumes all day.
Let's do it again.

Guys, thanks for the apologies. There’s an old saying Sh*t happens. I guess it was my day to get sh*t on. I guess the important thing is I finally got home in one piece. I normally ride by myself (which aint a bad thing). I suppose I would have been in the same situation had it been a lone wolf ride. Hopefully lessons were learned, I know I learn a couple.

Also, FWIW, I was prepared to come back to assist you if needed. Probably not the only one. Not a single a**hole in the whole group who was there. I'm glad you were able to get it back on the road.
