Yall... I say this with all honesty. If your bike has more than just a few miles on it, get some Seafoam and run some in your gas tank. I got some and put in 6 ozs today and after running a tank through I've got a different bike. It runs INCREDIBLE! I'm seriously amazed.

Here is their page with links to their MDS sheets listing the ingredients. I have been using it for years to winterize boats and bikes. No proof that it works or not, but never had a problem.

Got mine @ walmart. My bike ran a little different while in tank(bogged down a bit) but nxt tank was great. I use it once a month (one capful/tank) to keep everything cleaned out.

Serpentes squeezin's

It's a mild detergent/solvent. Waste of money if you occasionally use a gasoline with an additive such as Chevron with Techron.

It is a stabilizer similar to the ones you put in lawn mower gas if it's old. I tried it and I think it did help with some buildup in my carbs due to the clogged filters. I also put it in my weed eater which would not run unless the choke was half on and it cleared that problem. It's not something I would use on a regular basis but it does seem to help with deposits in the carb.My 2 stroke weed eater was headed for the dumpster and now it has a new life!

It is suggested to put about 1/3 a pint in your tank (motorcycles) once a year to clean carbs, etc. I figure it can't hurt and I'll put some in this week and each annual service.

Gas can still go bad in EFI bikes.

Just found this thread. This is not snake oil folks. I had purchased a Boston Whaler with a bad cylinder / low compression. (Checked by dealer). I used this stuff heavy, let it soak overnight, fired it up to enough smoke to alert homeland security. Took it to a second dealer close to home and asked him to check it out thoroughly. Called me in an hour and said pick it up. I got there thinking I was gonna get the blown motor talk. Nope, compression 115 in ALL cylinders. Take her home and run it. Which I have for two years. Carbon build up can cause rings not to seat properly, at least in boat outboards. Apparently I loosened carbon deposits. I run Chevron with Techron too, as I'm a believer.

Back to reality. I bought some Sea Foam (at Wal-Mart) and put 4-5 ozs. in a full tank. Recently I had been turning the pilot screws out to run better. I didn't notice anything running through the treated tank, but after the second tank I pulled the plugs and checked them. They were black. I turned the screws in a 1/4 turn and it seemed to run better. Ran another 500 miles and checked the plugs again. They were very dark tan so I turned the screws in another 1/8 turn. It again seemed to run better. After a few hundred miles, I pulled the plugs and they were tan and the bike was running fantastic.

My conclusion on this is that the Sea Foam cleaned the carbs and jets that were causing me to richen the mixture to run good. The result is that I'm back where I should be and the bike is running great. I'll never let a year go by again without running a tank full (4.5 oz. for 4.5 gal.) through. Deposits and crap do build up and the stuff definitely helps.

Is Seafoam the same thing as Sta-Bil? I mean I know they're suppose to do the same thing.

FJ, I don't believe so. Stabil slows gasoline deterioration, while SeaFoam is more of a deposits remover.

I use Sta-Bil on my boat because I leave old fuel in the boat. I think the Sta-Bil may do a better job of combining with water and helping stale fuel. The Sea Foam, I think, does a better job of cleaning the carbs, jets, etc. I was skeptical at first, but now will continue to use Sea Foam in my bike once or twice a year.

Fuel never gets stale in my bike. I probably will continue to use the Sta-Bil in my boat when it is sitting a lot.

Sta-Bil is mainly comprised of BHT - the food preservative. It's primarily for fuel storage.
Their web site give details on shelf lives, duty cycles, and such.

I use it on my chain saws, weed eater, power head, john deere tractor, f-250 truck, mustang cobra, wifes wrx, kids honda.
once a year in the crank cases, cleans carbon out very well.
Also in the gas on all yard equipment, year around.
and once a season in the gas tanks of the cars/truck.
Never have a problem starting the chain saws or yard equipment. always helps w/ gas. on my speedy every third tank or so.
Just read and follow instuctions on can.
I depend on the stuff. nothing does as goood of a job. for what its used for.

Good question Tom, I've wondered the same thing. Hopefully some of the tech gurus will enlighten us.
Don't mention this thread to the Dingua, he'll throw a hissy!

Now that's the question to ask.
Anything you put in your oil just ef's it up.

Just change your oil when you're supposed to, and it won't gunkify to start with.
