Just got the latest issue of Rider Magazine (September 2008) in the mail today. There is a great write up on the history of the Bonneville.

Every month I look forward to the new Rider arriving in the mail. It's one of the best cycle magazines on the market. Thanks for the update Soren.

+2

I meant to write or email them a few months back though, when they featured four mid-size cruisers on the cover - all Japanese - and I though the America or Speedmaster would have been a fair comparison. I don't reacll the mix, but displacement ranged from the 800cc to maybe 1100-1300cc, in a similar price range, but they were ALL JAPANESE!

HELLO! Those aren't the only cruisers out there!

On hind-sight, maybe that would have been an unfair comparison....

The cover on this issue also proclaims "Mega Touring Cruiser Comparo". Guess what 2300cc 800lb bike apparently doesn't qualify as "Mega".

Noted that also and was disappointed that the RIII was left out. Notice the sub title of the article is "Five biggest V-twin touring cruisers" That's how they go around that one.

However, Rider Mag is still the best IMHO

I don't get the magazine personally ~~ but my supervisor does and he hands me down the magazine to read. He gave me the new issue this morning. Loved the Bonnie articles.

Nor the Victory Vision!

Soren, you must be on the Preferred Subscriber list, mine didn't arrive until yesterday. But it's an excellent issue with lots of good write-ups, not least of all CS's Bonnie story.
