So Im riding into work this morning waiting in some small traffic to get through a light, when this car drives right up on my left side right next to me. The car comes so close to me and doesnt seem like its gonna stop so I give the side of the bumper a kick and turn around....YOOOOO!
Just a little old lady, who I can hardly see because theres a handicapped sticker hanging from the mirror...haha. Looks like she has no idea whats going on.
So traffic creeps up and we both move another car length or so as the road gets narrower next to a curbline with no shoulder and here comes this car again....right up along side me so close that she RUNS OVER MY FRIGGIN FOOT....
AND STOPS RIGHT ON TOP OF IT...(of course)
So I look at her again and yell WTF? and shes just staring at me looking like "how come youre not moving up with traffic?"
And I somehow answer her silent stare with a..."YOURE ON MY FOOT!".....Cant hear me I guess cause shes still stopped on top of my foot. (Not just the big toe, my whole freaking foot.) Doesnt wanna move I guess, so I somehow manage to pull my foot out from under the tire and out of anger I give her bumper another kick just before I blast through the light.
No harm no foul....It was a little suzuki car so my foots just a little sore from ripping it out. My sneakers are cool too...ahha

I wish I knew what the problem was with people not giving motorcycles their room. I see it enough, usually the retirees, pulling up next to me wanting to share my lane, eerrrrrgh! And then they look at you like, "What's YOUR problem!" I'm afraid I would have not been so nice as to ride off. Of course, there is the possibility of being jailed for assult on a motor vehicle! Hope your foot is truely OK! later, Tom.
But, what do I know?

Yeah I usually stay in the middle of the lane to keep people "honest"...haha. But the road sorta got wider on the right to make way for a left turning lane so theres a bit more room there for the lady to creep into mine..and then drive into the side of me when the road straightened out.

Hope your foot gets to feeling better,
She must have been close to run over your foot. I have mixed feeling about stories like this, One side says, ban the old people from driving before they really hurt some one, but then, you have to take in to concideration that this is America and as we all know. America is built around the car. Certainly where i am there is no public transport, not sidewalks, so unless the old people drive cars they are royally screwed. The old people are in a bit of a catch 22 position. If they drive they are a menace, and if they dont drive, they starve.
But the sarcastic side of me thinks, She ran your foot over while you were on the bike.....emm, you got quite a wide stance there old boy, if i were you i would stay away from Airport stalls.

haha....I'd like to think i have a normal stance. Like I said she ran up next to me the first time and didnt hit my foot cause i was sorta still riding. My knee was probably inches away from here fender/bumper. And then when we moved forward again I had to put my foot down and she came up close and ran it over. Now I do where a size 12, but she was freaking close. Actually so close that I couldnt get a good kick. I coulda windexed her windshield..ahha
I do realize that old people gotta get around too, so you just gotta suck it up and deal with it. Its not like younger drivers are any better at depth perception and knowing where exactly the car stops at. I think if it was a younger person I woulda been a little more pssd. Just seeing this little old lady staring at me while on top of my foot made me laugh to myself a bit so I couldnt get too offended..haha

My friend, a riding instructor would tell you it's all your own fault, cos you let her have enough room to pull up alongside you in the first place. I can hear him now tellin me my road positioning was pants and that I was encouraging the cage drivers to try and squeeze past by not completely blocking the lane

yeah i heard that rule somewhere and I usually ride in the middle sticking to my guns when im commuting in philly rush hour traffic. You gotta be pretty pushy driving around these citidiots. But this was a little local road and I didnt have my guard up I guess...haha

I think every driver should take a written and driving test every 5 years. I bet it would be shocking the number of people who can not control their vehicles or estimate distance.

man?....I think 5 years is a bit much. An average person drives what? 12-20,ooo miles a year? Thats quite a bit of practice miles for a 17 year old to be comfortable. I think it should be when you officially retire...youre like over 60 and your senses have been dulled a bit. You fail the test and they stick you on a scooter so you only hurt yourself instead of someone else..ahha
Im just glad grandma was up to date with her vehicle this morning...I prefer her driving a little compact as opposed to the lincon towncar toe crusher...haha

Sorry to hear Tom, hope you heal fast. I agree you probable should have reported her at least to have it on record. Should have let her drive away have hit and run charge and maybe get her off the road!! plus you never know about complications with the foot down the road. Glad your okay.

Man I'm glad that you are ok. I solved the boots to work issue by leaving a pair of sneakers at my office. When I get there I just switch until is time to head home... I also have a hair brush cause helmet hair sucks lol

i'm glad you're ok. it must have hurt like heck and it could have been really serious if she'd knocked over the bike with your foot trapped.
Not to compete but i have a friend who's car hood popped open on a busy highway. He pulled over and got out to put the hood down. As he stood in front of his car somebody rear-ended him and his own car ran over him. He wasn't badly hurt but it's a ****** of a story.

Good thing you weren't wearing flip flops like the guy I saw on a crotch rocket earlier this evening. Flip flops, shorts, no shirt and a $600 helmet.
We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

Im the kinda guy that sees filing reports and stuff as a hassle.
Then again 2 years ago I got decked in the back of the head while walking thru a darker part of the subway and when i turned around 6-8 high school kids were about to jump me so I took off running and never reported it . Then this past year a guy got beat to death at the same part in the subway, at the same time, by the same number of high school kids. They caught them all and theyre supposed to be getting alot of time for it because it was a random guy for no aparent reason.
SO...if this old lady gets busted for smoking pcp and crashing into a bus load of paraplegics next week...
I'll definately start reporting stuff when it happens...ahah
Oh yeah, foots fine...i was playing drums just last night...not a problem.
