The BA is starting to get broke in now with 1600 miles on it, and it sures likes to run at the higher rpm's. Since I don't have a tach (yet) I am not sure how hard I'm pushing it. Today, I swear I broke the rear tire loose hitting third. I tend to wind her up pretty tight before hitting gears and don't really know where I am on the revs.
I asked my buddy with a beamer about and he said he has a rev limiter that cut's the spark until you bring her back down. Claims he has only hit it once!
Does Triumph have this or do I need to cool my jets?

Yep. I've hit the limiter a few times on my speedy since i put pipes on it. It's different on the speedy i think, but it's somewhere around 8 k RPMs. When you hit it you'll know cuz just as you were told the bike will cut out till the RPM's are lower at which time you'll of course be shifting anyway.

Cool - this is a good feature for me! I hope this means that I can drive the bike like I want and she will scream when the pain is unbearable!

Yea, i kinda like this feature too. A lot of people dislike it and want to disable it or have it set higher, but i never understood that because all it does is keep you from revving it to the point where it may not be good for it. and considering these bikes develop thier max power below the limiter i see no reason to go above it. Especially the 05 speedmaster like mine which develops max HP at 6500 RPM.
If you happen to really get on it thru the gears it's nice to know you can't accidentaly rev it way above safe limits which for america owners w/o a tach is especially important. Imagine spinning it up with no limiter and all of a sudden hearing a clunk and the engine dies as a rod goes flying thru the case. Not something i wanna experience !

loco Has others said, yes we do have the rev limiter, i hit mine quite a lot, mostly in the lower gears. it is there to stop you working the engine to much, keeps you from doing any harm. when you get the chance take it though the gears and let hur rip untill you hit the limiter in each gear, keep an eye on the speedo and note (in your mind that is not on a peice of paper while your doing it)what speed you are at, that will give you an indication of how you can push your bike. it is good to know and to get a feal of how she performs. your need a nice stretch of road and keep an eye out for the cops. our bikes can move pretty good. all the best and safe riding out there Herb

A rev limiter is not a shift indicator! Al

There's a Triumph shop in cali that builds screaming bonnevilles...they have yet to find a way to disable the rev limiter....casual cruising i usually shift at about 3500/4000 rpm....i have a tach...I'll try to post shift points on the speedometer for ya....but i have an 18t front sprocket...we need somebody with a 17t front to post the shift points...or just figure about 300 less rpm?....i think?

The '03 edition of the service manual says the limiter is set to 7400 on all 4 Bonneville versions in production then.

The difference in revs (17t to 18t) will get bigger as the gears get higher.
