Considering options for the cut off line on the fender kind of like the straight back option but swaying towards a compromise between that and the box look. Proposed cut off lines appear inthe larger pics

That is the style I am favouringBut no fall back to straight once done. Might actually do it in stages. Now to find a side plate bracket that does not cost a fortune Might just build some thing minimalist from myself from some black rod stock. I have to run bags now and then so locating turn signals is an issue too

side plate bracket is like $3 worth of metal if you build it yourself. Heres a pic of how its made

Ive since mounted a toolbox to the underside

I have been thinking about the same thing for my bike. What line do I use?
I decided it would be best to use the same profile as the bottom of the actual fender as it is now. Take a piece of thin cardboard and make a template by tracing the bottom line of your fender. Place it on the fender where you want to cut and have at it. I took your picture and performed just that in Paintshop for you just now so you would have a good idea of how it would look:

Hope you like

If it were me I'd leave it 4-6 inches longer to mount the turn signals and keep the mud off your back; matching the imaginary diagonal line made by the end of the mufflers and chain guard

Bob if you will. I just want to play devil's advocate before you take a chop wheel to it. In my most humble opinion, you'll be chopping up what might be the most beautifully sculpted rear fender of all time and you can't put it back. Just my $.02

I would start with the number one and see how you like it, if it doesnt suit your taste, then go farther, just remember, you can always take away more, but its a lot harder to put it back!!!
