I have been lurking around here for about a month. a couple of weeks ago purchaxed a 2008 BA. Just wanted to say thanks in helping me make the decesion to buy a Triumph. BTW I bought an AI removal kit from BC. Was I supposed to get some directions? Can any tell me where I can find some direction with pictures? Tried some searches but I could not find them. Of course I am really bad at searches. Should I install the AI before the break in period?

Thanks in advance
Kendall

Welcome! There sure are a lot of new owners here. My bike just cracked 500 miles.

I'm surprised there were no directions. Maybe it was a "homebrew" kit put together by the dealer. Anyway, I'll copy and post the instructions that came with mine if no one beats me to it.

I did. In fact, I couldn't wait to get rid of AI. My only decision was whether to remove all the parts, or to plug the lines. In the end, I did what most folks here recommended - removed everything and installed the kit "clean."

I've posted a copy of the instructions that came with my kit below. In addition to these instructions, you might need direction with a few of the basic nuts and bolts. I had the benefit of a local America owner for this (Thanks Dick!).

Here are my own notes (these are in addition to the kit instructions):

Ride the bike until you've used most of the gas in the tank. I know, I know, it's a bad job, but someone's gotta do it. Next, you need a 8mm flat wrench for the passenger seat. Remove the rear seat bolt, then remove the pillion by pushing forward while pulling up. Be sure the rear bracket doesn't scratch the fender while you're doing this. Remove the bolt at the rear of the main seat. Pull the seat back and up. Remove hardware at the back of the tank. Pull the back of the tank up a few inches with one hand while you feel your way around to find the rubber bleeder tube. It attaches under the tank in a sort of upper-left location. Simply pull the tube down to remove. Now pull the tank back (to disengage the front rubber "T" mount) and up. I suggest laying out some towels in advance so you have a place to set everything. Also, don't forget to cover the tank with a cloth any time you're working above it. It only takes one slip of a tool to ding that beautiful new paint. When you're done with everything, route the bleeder tube so it's in the same position as before you removed it. Double-check to be sure the tube isn't crimped when you reinstall the tank. Finally, I also suggest that you save the parts. It's not inconceivable that laws may eventually require original equipment to be fitted in order to pass vehicle inspection.

Incidentally, I was not able to locate a deep 13mm socket that would fit over the injectors. The upper end of the injectors is flared, and the flare wouldn't fit through either the 3/8" dirve or 1/2" drive sockets that I tried. In the end, I used a 13mm open-end to just crack the injectors loose. It wouldn't turn more than about 5 or 10 degrees, but that was enough to get them out by hand. I'm sure this won't work with an older bike, but it will work while they're new.

Good luck!
Jack

Welcome aboard, Kendall. Nice looking machine even if, as Lester pointed out, it is not the most awsomest of color schemes (Blue and White).

Still has that showroom shine.

This guy is soooo correct, as long as it is "Pacific Blue/New England White".

Hey, only kidding, it's all about personal taste. Glad you chose a Triumph and welcome to BA.
