As above. The transmission in our bikes has enough friction across the bearings to transmit a little power to the wheel even in neutral, and engaging the clutch won't even stop it due to the wet, multiplate clutches. However if it was actually in gear forcing the wheel to stop with the rear brake would stall the engine (or significantly slow it down at least). Most likely candidate for a rubbing noise is the disk brake... how long since you checked your brake pads? It could also be a dry chain... how long since you lubed it? It could even be a badly mis-aligned wheel, wiring under the rear fender come loose, or a million other things.
