OK, I dont have a pic that I can easily upload ( its on my cell phone ) I wish that I had my camera with me yesterday at PJ's. A guy rode in on one of the bikes out of his collection and it was a beautiful orange with tan leather seat Ariel Square 4. Never seen one in real life and it was love at first sight!!! Trying to get my pics on cell to my email, but verizon is not being cooperative. Mark

I always liked the look of the Ariel 4, especially the later one with the 4 exhaust ports. At least back then, they were very fast too.

I stopped by my buddies house this week to borrow some BS tap/die pieces. He sold off some of his bikes, but still has three Ariels (one perfect, one rider, one basket). Deer Park Cycles here in MD has a restored Ariel they showed recently at Triumph Come Home. I'd never heard one running before, it's an incredible sound and unlike anything else.

Yep! I've always kind'a thought the Square 4's sounded a little like a Ford Flathead V8.
(but then again, after workin' on the airport tarmac all those years around those old DC9s without ear protection, my hearin' ain't what is should be, ya know!)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Well my head sure snapped around when I heard this ride in. Good analogy on the sound. Quote:
