I heard from a reliable source in the UK that the new Thunderbird will be available in 2011 in different configurations like the Harley Softail line, including a bobber type (ala Street Bob) and a chopper type (ala Rocker C). These will be complimented by the regular line up various dress Thunderbirds (Standard Cruiser, Chromed Cruiser and Touring).
'06 TBA - Black, AI and Snorkel removed, K&N Drop In, Gutted Stock Pipes, 145/42, 2 turns out.

Yep! And keeping with the Thunderbird theme, I hear Triumph is also presently developing a motorcycle with it's gas tank postioned at the rear which'll be named the Triumph Pinto. Though so far the boys at Hinckley are havin' a little fire/explosion problem after it's initial rear end collision tests! (yeah, I know Triumph used the T-Bird name before Ford did...but hey, anything for a joke, right?!)

I heard they are working on a six banger trike, 2 side by side R3 engines.

Given Triumph's model track record, the logical next step for the T-bird will likely be a 'blacked out' version (to be named, but I like 'Blackbird') to compliment the T-bird as the Speedmaster compliments the America, and as the Rocket Touring compliments the Rocket III. This makes sense to me, since production costs would be minimized while introducing a bike which appeals to a different segment in the same market and keeps the 'buzz' for Triumph as a brand in the trade news as a marketing tool.
This will all depend on how successful the T-bird is in the showrooms, among riders, and on the balance sheet. I predict that this wil happen within two years as long as the current motorcycle market remains robust.

Yuk. Why? They've an inspiring cruiser in the rocket. I guess just because they could. The America is bad enough. If I want a Harley I'll buy one, um, guess I did.

Dear Oakers - There are pictures and discussions galore (hardly ever use that word - honest) in the 'other bikes' section of this site.

Sorry guys I was just looking for pics of the Thunderbird, thats a typical Hardley comment tho, they ought to ride one first, but then the dyed in wool Hardley traditionalist ain't change for no one, look at the way they viewed the VRod?

Seems to me like a bunch of HD jealous folks there; still bitter for buying an overpriced bike... of course, that's just my opinion. I could be wrong.

Yeah, but how you folks like THIS guy Grant's response to it at that website??? __________________________________________ Ooh, that would be nice, Robert. I would happily be seen on and own a bike that cool, whereas the 1600 seems to be designed for a generic Midwest suburban middle class male that may or may not exist. This is what happens when focus groups are depended on for branding and marketing strategies instead of mining a dense history for unique and innovative direction. Nobody needs, or even really wants, an exact copy of a rickety Speed Twin for the purposes of daily riding. I think it is the essential litheness of the visual weight while retaining the European flavour of a cruising machine that Triumph should be aiming for. I'll bet since that kind of philosophy worked for Brando, it'll work for the market they're looking to tap into. Grant on July 25, 2008 12:14 PM __________________________________________________ (man...don't you just hate those kind'a blowhards that always just seem to go on and on and on, and that use all them there fancy words like they're tryin' to impress folks or somethin'?!!!...that is when they're not tryin' to crack lousy jokes all the time!!!)
