hello,

I have a friend who has these pipes and i quite like them. However, he has had a problem with some of the chrome coming off of the pipe near the bracket. It's not visable easily and doesn't seem to bother him, but it makes me hesitant on the purchase. Thier site has no detailed info on warranty and so far no email response. Does anyone know what thier warranty is concering this ?

Send them an email for the exact warranty specs. I know Chy had a chrome issue (They have since changed chromers I was told) and Tpipe replaced them lickidy split.

A word to the wise is not necessary. It is the stupid ones who need the advice. Pat

I know a few people who have the Thunderpipes here down under and they to have had and still have, problems with the crome and some rusting. not sure on the response from Thunderbike in NZ, but they have not had them replaced yet.
it would be good if they could make these things in ss.
Safe riding

******...hope this doesn't happen to mine ! i did notice the chrome doesn't seem as good as the stock pipes. Seems like you can see the sanding marks of the metal underneath as tho the chrome is sorta thin. Not a big deal and i don't want to sound like it's real bad, just slightly noticable in the right light. What does kind of bug me is that when i try to clean them, anything i use leaves smudge marks and it's hard to get a clean smudge free surface. on the stock pipes no problem. I really think that while the finish isn't real bad, it is unacceptable for pipes that are this expensive. the chrome should be first class.

I've been using Meguier's NXT Spray Wax (synthetic polymer) to clean and shine the Tpipes. Just don't spray it cause it goes everywhere, into the little tiny crevices that you can't get to with a cloth, makes wiping off a real pain. Spray it on a rag first then apply, let dry and wipe off.

Cheers!

Thats what i have ! I have that and eagle one wet wipe and shine. I don't like the NXT as much and therefore use it on pipes and wheels and all. The eagle one i use on the paint. But i bought the NXT via a recommendation but found i like eagle one best still so religated the NXT to the jobs that could be done with a wt rag like pipes. But in any case, i tried a few things and they still smudge. Maybe they've gone to cheaper chrome recently.

Britbikefreak,

I am another one with the chrome coming off and rust (after 6-7 months) BOTH under the bracket and near the header pipes, only in my case they are quite visible (in fact quite nasty).
I would also be interested to see the TB warranty policy on here since you didn't get any e-mail response from TB.

I was hoping Graeme would chime in here since this thread has been up for a week now.

Hi, We have been having some shop renovations this week and are behind with our email etc. We have checked through today though and can find no trace of an email regarding the problem mentioned, there is also the chance it has been snared by one of our myriad of spam filters, so my apologies if you have not received the reply you have been waiting for.

On the subject of our warranty policy, we are a reasonable team of people here at Thunderbike and we pretty much treat any problems owners have on an individual basis.
If you as an owner have any concerns regarding a Thunderbike Product please contact us by email with a description of your problem and if possible some digital photographs where relevant. If you do not receive a reply within 48hrs please try a resend and/or a call (to our local rate number if in the US) to request that we call you back (which we will do), if we are not available, leave a message and we will call you back.

We have to know you have a problem so please if you are affected contact us and we can discuss the situation and get to the bottom of any issues.

Cheers
