With all these high action movies hitting the big screan, what does my wife take me to see at the Cinema this weekend.

Mama Mia. Yes, Mama Mia, the chick flick with all the Abba music. And i gotta tell you all...........it was very good, in fact,.......................... It was bloody brilliant!

But with the cast it was hardly ever going to be a dudd. Meryle Streep, (has this lady ever made a duff movie), Julie Waters, Pierce Brossman, Colin Frith. Great cast, great story line, cleverly inhanced by the lyrics of Abbas music. I know it's not particually macho to admit to liking Abba music, but then i never been known to be very macho anyway, and besides, im a sucker for 70's music.

Mama Mia, great movie. Take your wives and or girlfriends, they will love it. And so will you. The question is, are you macho enough to admit it?

Hello everybody, my name is Tom.

I like chick flicks....

I wasn't sure that this one would be on my "A" list to see, but if you can do it, so can I! (when it comes out on DVD...)

later, Tom.

But, what do I know?

I will admit that I will sit on the couch and watch a chick flick with the wife. At least you are garunteed to see attractive women. And "How to lose a Guy in 10 days" has a triumph new Bonnie in it.
And as for musicals I watch Troma's "Cannibal the Musical" this weekend. Not excatly traditional but there was singing.

Well, the reviews haven't been too good.

I think I'll just save my(what is it now, 12 bucks to see a flick nowdays?) money, and watch for TCM to show "Singin' In The Rain"(THE greatest musical of all time) again, or maybe even "The Music Man".

(and from the ads I've seen of "Mama Mia" on TV, that there 007 dude couldn't carry a tune in a friggin' BUCKET!!!)

Well that there is reason enough to go and see it. Some of the best movies ive seen have been absolutley slated by the critics.

Admittedly, hes not the best singer in the world, but there are worse singers out there. Some of them have albums in the charts.

I have a lot of respect for any actor he makes a leap into the unknown and steps outside of their comfort zone. Pierce Brossman has done a splendid job on this movie.

Umm, not sure about that. I think to name the Greatest musical of all time would be next to impossible. To many truly great musicals to pick only one.

What about 'The Sound of Music, or The Wizard of Oz' to name just two and there are many more.

OH! You mean "the Sound of MUCUS", Mark?!

(hey..don't blame me for that one...I hear Christopher Plummer himself calls it that)

Look dude! There's two things a truly great musical never has, and those are...NAZIS...and FLYIN' MONKEYS!!!

(just kiddin' kid, those are great musicals too, but NOT as great as "Singin' In The Rain", ya know)

"Springtime for Hitler" or "The Producers"? I thought that ("SFH") was just at the end of Blazing Saddles.

Now THAT was a musical!

They've been playing a few songs from Mama Mia on the muzak at work, very Xanadu sounding. They've been playing so much stuff from the Xanadu days that I half expect to turn around and see a bunch of Bick waving acid heads.

Now boys. I think you need to get in touch with your feminine side.

Absolutely! And, a strong and contented man can most easily connect with it. It is only those with with obvious testosterone deficiencies that struggle with it. I, myself, would just love it if one day a week could be 'musical day, whereas each and every one of us would sing aloud rather than speak, and dance through the workplace in joyous harmony. I am collecting a wardrobe of lovely costumes in anticipation of that very day. Ta-Ta...

Ahh, me, too. And, I find it delightfully refreshing. Tie this thought in with that "Lone Wolf or Club" thread and a purely wonderful visual of a chorus of 200 crusty, leather enveloped, hairy dudes (and babes) dancing about whilst engaged in a line or two of 'YMCA' immediately appears. Ain't it sweet?

Nuff 'bout dis - I have to go pick out some fabric to match my new wall paper.

Thank god you didn't wanna do the biker version of the Rocky Horror Show! The thought of 200 hairy bikers on a rideout in their Basques and suspenders is rather frightening!

Fave musicals

Blues Brothers
Little Shop of Horrors (Steve Martin the Dentist should be played in every Dentist's reception)
