I really hate the way those Hollywood idiots think you should hold an automatic pistol sideways to shoot it. First off, you can't aim that way. Gun sights and the human optical system don't work that way. Second, a weapon held sidewise with the right side up is several hundred times more likely to jam. Held the other side up, the round in the chamber will fire OK, but the next one will fall out on the ground.
Then, there's the way the crooks put a single bomb in a car and it blows up 6 times....

Just saw it on the telly. Oh yeah, another thing. The military issue .45 holds 7 rounds in the magazine and one more in the chamber. That's 8 shots max, not 397!

Learned in the military I couldn't hit anything regardless at what angle I was holding the firearm.
I remembered to keep the pointy end away from me.
Probably why I'll never own one (I'll fight for your right to own one though.)

I agree that always bugs me too, good point is while some clown is shooting at me that way I'll squeeze off one aiming the right way and take him out barring a lucky shot by said clown.

Hey Ian I know this might seem a daft question. Previously you have said that due to your job recovering cars and such from dodgy areas you carry a concealed firearm. Have you ever had to pull and use the thing or has the threat merely been enough.

I won't presume to speak for Ian but I was taught that one does not use a firearm as a threat. If the situation is bad enough to pull it, it is bad enough to pull the trigger.
