Well, after a day of working on bikes ( changed the oil in Sonya's America and installed new brake and shifter pedals from Kuryakyn ). Also installed shims on the needles of my speedy. Well, just a reminder to those out there. After putting the tank back on. Ensure that you re-attach the gas line to the petcock. If not when you get on to go for a ride, you just might end up with an engine getting a bath of petrol like I did. ( whoops ) Good thing my hand wasnt far from the knob on the petcock. but bike got a good douse of fuel. Oh well, if that is all that happens then it wasnt a bad day LOL... Mark

While in CT I pull a really stupid move that ended up in a spill too. I was gassing Wendys bike and watching the pump not the tank and must have pumped about a quart or more all over the engine and tank. I think it pi$$ed me off more than it did her! Really really stupid, the auto shut off didn't work but no excuse for not watching the tank.

Wait 'till you're in the middle of an oil change and the OL opens the shop door to ask you something, then the dog runs in behind her and dumps over the drain pan.

I something similar to that before. After putting the tank on, I reached for the petcock and started to walk away and heard a water running noise, turned around and probably lost half a gallon of gas.

Nothing to do with bikes but don't get a stuck bit of toast out of the toaster with a metal fork.
You only do it once!

Jeez you guys!! I'm amazed half of you are still here reading through those posts. You guys should take more care and don't be so clumsy ... me, I'd never remove my America tank and forget to turn off the petcock first ...... That would just be plain stoopid!

OK, I'll throw mine in. Not bike-related, but still stoopid. Many years ago, I was taking a friend and a a couple of girls out on our motorboat over spring break. Being cool to impress the girls, I backed the trailer in, launched the boat, and putted around to the dock before I realized that I forgot to put in the drain plug. Then, it took what seemed like ten frantic minutes for me to actually find the plug. Just about sank my dad's boat that day...and never saw the girls again.

I"ll throw mine in. Washing my dirt bike as a teenager one day and when I got done jumped on the bike and took off. problem was that the hose cas caught on the center stand. They made those hoses tougher back in the 70s and when I hit the end of that hose it ripped the faucet and about 3 feet of pipe out of the house. Of course my dad happened to be in the basement at the time and he was not a happy camper when he finally got the water stopped.

Funny thing. You think back to the little "oppsies" that you did as a kid, and got a slipper across the back side for your efforts.
But now, when your dads telling his grand children of some of the things their dad did when he was little. Now he laughs his head off at it.
What gives, if it was so darn funny how come you tanned my arrse for it.
