Hey, folks --

Whatta y'all know about "zipass"?

http://208.56.98.127/zipass.html

Mounts to your handlebars, holds an EZ Pass/Smart Tag/whatever... how is it, how's it look, how effective, etc...?

I saw a couple of Speed Triples up in NYC a few weeks ago that had these mounted, and it struck me as a really good idea. At the moment I have my smarttag in my toolkit, but for it work I have to mount the toolkit ABOVE my headlight, so it looks kind've dorky.

Well I know one thing - the EZ Pass will not work in your jacket.
I guess if you go through enough toll booths it would be worth the effort. I'd get the outside transponder and zip-tie it to your foot control bar, or even under the bike and save the $40 bucks.

I just ordered the Zip-pass. Had one too many close calls at the booth, and that was both times I tried to go through holding my EZ-Tag. $40 beats crashing any day.

I don't think it would read it from the foot control bar or from under the bike.

Man, that Zipass is butt ugly. You boy's need to move somewhere that they don't have so many toll roads. (Like they don't get enough of our money through stinking gas taxes.)

Hey!

Actually, I'm glad someone resurected this thread.

I discovered the perfect solution without the Zip Pass -- Smart Tag, down here in VA, has an "external" transmitter that's designed to be bolted to a license plate -- turns out it fits perfectly when wedged between the handlebar risers and the speedo. I have mine wedged in, and held in place with two zipties. It's simple, unobtrusive, and cheap.

Got the Zipass - and it's a better quality part than I immagined it would be (Brent would be proud to carry these). It's a simple one-piece machined part, but beautifully polished - looks like chrome. It's small enough to not be real conspicuous even when the eztag is not strapped on. They have improved the design, so it is not quite like the image portrayed on the website Zipass

Just don't know where to put it. Ideally, it should go where the pumpkins are, but it won't fit there because of the pumpkins. Only place I see is the hinge bolt on the clutch control lever, but that will require a longer bolt. Would be nice to be able to do an easy on or off with this thing (like with a wing nut), but I'll have to think about it. I really don't have to use the toll roads, but occassionally it can be convenient. One thing is for sure - there will be more toll roads before there are fewer toll roads, and at the rate things are changing around here, this thing may be worth having later. Even if it winds up on another bike.

I've been thinking about making one of these. I have removed the bend-wire cable/wire loop thing from under the top tripple tree. That leaves me a free hole on either side of the headlight to mount it, consider that!
