So I'm surfing around on the British Customs site and I see this dual touring seat and it looks pretty sweet. Does anyone have one or experience of one? I'd really like to know if it's worth the $600.

I don't but thought I'd hack a photo for you.

I like it too!Kinda reminds me of the old King and Queen seats of yesteryear.The price doesn't seem too bad considering you'd pay that for a Corbin or custom made seat.(Trust me on this one)Now we need someone in Gardena Ca. to check it out up close and personal.Anybody close to there?

If I had $600 that I didn't know what to do with, I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

i talked to shawn the other day about that seat. they are a custom order and they have 6 being made which will be sold on a first call basis. as of 7/16 he was hoping to get them in 7 to 10 days. its a sweet looking seat but i went with the corbin since you can seperate the pillion from the solo.

I own my first Triumph, a 2009 America...I love this bike but the seat has to go...this seat reminds me of a Yamaha Venture seat and that was the best seat I have ever sat on. I have an email in to them to confirm the dual touring will fit my 2009 and if so I will order one immediately and post a good review and pictures...thank you Triumph for a great bike.

Dont know about you folks but my butt isnt square.

Anyway...I went to Richs cause I live close enough to go in for a custom fitting. The first time he did my saddle it was a drop off. He did a nice job, sat me further back, comfy riding position but it was causing some numbness. I went in when I got back from Nelson and he reworked it. I learned a few things about our seat pans during this fitting.
1) our seats set us far up
2) when you move the rider back the seat pan has a drastic upward angle at the rear due to how low the oem seat sets the rider
3) the basic solutions are to raise the set height to get enough clearance so your tail doesnt press agains the seat pan or move further forward. I am 6-1 and moving forward was not an option for me so I went up.

My seat after todays fitting and adjustment is a night and day difference. With teh oem seat I could go maybe 20 miles before gettign a hot spot. I had a Corbin for a while and it looked better than OEM but I was done by @40 miles. Todasy test ride went 50 miles and I did not feel any fatigue at all.

My seat is big...its tall but it feels like heaven. Ill post a pic tomorrow so you can see.

I guess my point is for that money you should get more than just a generic seat.

Actually as your body is bent in the seated position it is in mostly a straight line...British customs just responded to me on a Saturday and tells me the seat will fit a 2009 and with high quality leather so I just ordered one and it will take 4 to 5 weeks to build...I spent many miles in a seat shaped just like this and the back support was incredible for me...I am hoping this seat feels like that...after spending all the money we do on exhaust and other non rider comfort items, whats 600 for rider comfort...I will post a good review with photos after receiving my seat and my butt can't wait : ) ride safe!

I think I might try a Russell Day-Long next time I'm in the market for a touring seat. My Corbin works okay but I think it could be a lot more comfortable on those 500+ mile days.

It fits perfect...very easy install...just remove the stock seat and it fit perfect and is held in place with one bolt...they supply a large felt like washer. http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/nn26/jimesaj/DSCN0741.jpg The seat is on nice and firm, does not move at all. I was a little afraid I would not like the one piece look but it really looks good. The seat says saddlemens on it, but when I check saddlemens site I can not find a seat for a Triumph.http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/nn26/jimesaj/DSCN0748.jpg Before putting it on I thought it would be too firm for me, but it feels really good riding...it definitely takes some of the spine tingling jolts our of the ride...the seat is a bit wider, giving my thighs much more support, and it is very roomy for me...it seems to put me back an inch or so...I was thinking it might put me on the tank like mustang and some corbins have, but putting me back more is very comfortable for me...The back support is perfect...I can now really enjoy riding this bike. I am 240 or so and 5'10 1/2" tall...so this will be real nice for those of you that are even taller then I am. I don't mind a good write up on new accessories that become available, so thanks for that Jim.

I myself have a Corbin but yours looks like it will be really comfortable and perhaps offer those that don't find the Corbin right for their dimensions an alternative to, like you say, enjoy riding in comfort and style.

Good luck with it and maybe you can give us some more info on how it feels after a few hours riding.

Jim, agreed...fantastic write up. I've considered this seat for some time and really getting excited about it. I do have a few other questions though.
1. How tall is the passenger seat? This is a bit of a concern as I do have a sissy bar and I'd like to make sure it clears the top of the seat well enough to be useful.
2. Do you ride 2 up? For the girlfriend's sake, I would like to know a passengers opinion of the seat also.
3. Finally, after you get some miles on it and maybe a long ride or two, could you do another write up? Just to let us know if the seat still kicks butt...no pun intended.

the pillion seat and it is 4 1/4" from the top of the mounting bolt to the top of the seat...and I have not ridden two up yet...but it seems like the pillion will be very comfortable...I am actually not riding much yet due to some issues still from surgery, probably the longest rides I will do will be 60 miles or so...I won't even get a chance to ride today but will do some tomorrow...I will report again if I find any negative issues...I can actually use some help on deciding what rear shocks to go with...I hear different things about the progressive and about hagon...I was thinking the hagon gas shocks would be the best...I definitely want to soften the ride up even more then the seat just did...I am not concerned about high speed cornering...well, I am but...at this point I need a softer ride to be able to ride more....any suggestions would be appreciated? you won't go wrong with these

on the seat was 61 miles and I was in the saddle for 67 minutes...part city, mostly freeway...on the stock seat I could only take 30 minutes before my butt wanted to get off...on this seat it took 67 minutes till I got that feeling...so better but not perfect...my back feels great, the back support is perfect...no need for any type of backrest with this seat. Next I will take staffos advice and go with the hagon nitros...thanks staffo...Jim

it really has worked in nice only after a couple hundred miles...very comfortable...definitely a great buy, now I can't wait for the Hagons to get here...Jim

Hi Jim, just wanted to enquire as to whether you got the nitros yet. Also I wanted to offer a bit more advice if that's alright.

Just wanted to make sure you got the correct rated springs. For instance I am 90kg and initially the hagon rep here in Aus sent me 20kg rated springs. Well afte riding for nearly a year I eventually had to screw down the pre-load to the point where it was obvious the next size up springs needed appraisal.

Well to his credit, the rep sent me both the 23 and 26kg springs. I tried both and settled with the 23kg ones. Well now they are absolutely perfect, ride wise but believe it or not, I've screwed them right down again but not to the end of its limit. I'll look into the 26kg springs being sent to me again just to make sure.

Anyway, we all make mistakes and having the right spring for you weight is obviously everything.

One other thing I really need to advise you on is is this little beauty of a mod

Again the distributor of the hagon progessive front springs is only working on the info he has but again, measuring and ensuring the sag is not too large is cruicial for a good ride.

Mate, it's taken me 15 months of fiddling around to get where I'm at now and I wouldn't say this unless I wasn't certain of the results. To put it in a nutshell, I just finished a 1400k ride after having put the pvc spacer in and what these have done to improve the ride is truely phenomenal. Good luck and let us know what you think.

Well I finally got one of these second hand. Getting it on was a minor pain as I have saddlebags and the stock bolt wasn't long enough (needed one twice the length). Luckily D&D Cycles here in Norfolk hooked me up. The seat looks and feels great. I sit a lot higher than on the stock seat (maybe an inch or two). I'm 5'10" and just on the toes when stopped. The seat isn't even broken it; previous owner bought it and wrecked his ride before installing it. Therefore, maybe after breaking in a bit I'll sit somewhat lower. It's also a lot firmer than stock yet surprising comfortable. Really felt smooth while riding, even over some pretty nasty potholes. If it ever gets into the 50s around here I'll put a few hundred miles on it in one shot.

The girlfriend hasn't climbed on it yet but I'm curious of her thoughts. The passenger seat is significantly wider which she thinks she'll really enjoy. The seat is also slightly higher than stock. I have a short sissy bar on right now and it's merely a butt stop with the new seat. The bottom of the pad is almost flush with the top of the passenger seat.

If anyone cares speak up and I'll provide more info as the miles roll on.
