been noticing the brakes on Blue have felt kind of soft. not certain if i have been getting used to Frankie's brakes and the difference between the two. last night i lost all front brake, had smoke and some fluid leakage.
luckily, this occured as i pulled into the driveway. it was too dark and too late to do anything about it last night. going down to do an inspection now. please watch this space for questions and pleas for help.
your truly

seems that because the speedo cable loop bolt sheered off recently, and i didn't do a quick fix with a tie wrap, the brake line hit the left header on a hard turn and burnt through, causing fluid to leak out everywhere.
guess it's a good thing the braided cables i have listed in the li'l m sale weren't spoken for.
spent most of last Sunday working on Blue's light bar/aux light swap out. wasn't really planning on spending the day curled up by her front wheel. oh well.

Can't think of a better place for that to happen than your driveway. And even better, you have replacement parts in hand...

It is. You can totally handle it... Suck all the rest of the fluid out first, don't want it on the paint! Then just swap lines and bleed them. Pretty much it... Use a GOOD fitting wrench on the bolts that hold the brake lines on, they are already kind of rounded by design, so they will round out easily if you aren't careful.

Seems like I remember that a 9/16" open end fit the best when I did mine; it's been a while though and my memory could be deceiving me.

ooh, geez Mert - sorry it happened of course but good thing for me to find out that that speedo retaining thing matters - I'll get right on that!

So I finally remembered to check and it's 14mm open end for the best fit, I think a 14mm 6 point socket might be another tool for this application. I don't think a 12 point socket will grip properly with those rounded shoulders.

Yes, the rounded shoulders!! If you have a 6 pointed box end 14mm that would work nicely too.
Lil M, saltines are awesome. Ever try to eat 6 in under a minute without drinking water? It's tough...
