I had a previous post as "newby", I just become the proud owner of an 02 TBA that has not been started up for a couple years. Today I installed a new battery, changed the oil and filter, put in a little fuel and got nothing. I suspect I'll have to pull the carbs and clean them, but I'm not sure what is the best method.
Do I remove the small intake piece from the cylinder head to create enough space to get them off? I loosened the rubber piece (two clamps), but that doesn't seem to allow any wiggle room.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. I also tried to remove the bowls, but as luck would have it each one had at least one screw that wouldn't budge and I didn't want to round out the screw head, so I stopped.
If any one is located near Waldorf, Maryland and could lend a helping hand, to get me going, I'd be forever greatful!
Thanks,
Bill
P.S. how do I post a pic? I've noticed a couple loose wire connectors....is the wiring harness made for different configurations....thinking California smog laws?? One is underneath the tank and another is hanging down behind the battery, both have a two prong connector.

Before you pull the carbs, make sure fuel is flowing to them. Loosen the drain screws at the side of float bowls to see if fuel pours out.
If not, check back from the carb through the hidden filter to the petcock for obstructions.
If there is fuel, pull the bowls to check to see if they are gummed up. You could spray the various jets with a varnish remover or add Seafoam to the fuel to break down the varnish.
One last thing, do you have spark at the plugs?

One last thing, here is a link to Dinqua's carb site showing how to remove carb/airbox and service jets. http://www.dinqua.com/Triumph/carbs1.html

Thanks Gregger! Yes i have spark at the plugs. I did loosen the drain screws, fuel dripped from one and nothing from the other. I can't seem to locate the inline fuel filter that I've read about on this site. I did see something but the line it was on appeared to small for a fuel line, looked more like a vacum line....but it was getting dark and i was tired...more to do this afternoon!

follow the fuel line from the tank. where the line meets the carbs at a "T". remove the line from the T and the hidden fuel filter is in there. if it is an 02 and been sitting for a while I am sure the fuel has gummed up a bit.
does it try to start or is there just nothing . it could be a fuse, the kick stand switch, or the neutral switch, the clutch lever switch.
there are several plugs on a stock bike that are not used. they are there for accessories.
I live north of Westminster . It may be hard for me to find time to come that far but I will see what I can do.

Thanks Pete and Gregger! I followed the instructions from the link above and pulled the carbs, they were gummed up in a bad way. I completly disassembled them and gave them a long bath in choke and carb cleaner. The jets were clogged and the needles were caked in gunk.
Got her back together, and she fired up on the first try!
Sweet! Took it for a quick spin last night around 9:30 p.m. and it performed great!
