Simple Green - spray and wash off, no scrubbing - nice and shiny

No.

Yes. You get yourself a girlfriend who loves to ride and refuse to take her unless she polishes all the chrome on your bike.

I have yet to find anything you can spray on and rinse off that will remove brake dust, bug guts, and road grime completely. Even the wheel cleaners that are sold at auto parts stores only do a so-so job.
You can use many different things to get them clean - wash mitt, old tube socks, a spoke brush, etc. But you are going to have to get up close and personal to really get them clean.

A scuffless kitchen scouring pad like the ones used for teflon coated cook wear, or, a soft bristled brush for auto detailing, or, a natural bristled paint brush, or, Ed's girl friend idea.

Wash the wheel with car wash soap solution. (Using Simple Green is evil on the metal, unless you rinse it extremely well using high pressure. Which tends to rust out the rim as the water will penetrate the nipples and get under the rim strip.) Then get a rag, dab it in mothers mag polish and polish away. The brake residue wipes right off. Floss the spoke nipples. Do this a couple of times a year. All other times: wash then use maguire's finish mist and wipe down. On the back rim use some kerosene to remove the chain fling after washing and before Mother's.
Or take your sickle to the local Hardley shop when they have the bikini wash events...Drink a brew, sit back, and enjoy above all, the view.

You'll be sorry if you keep using Simple Green. The stuff works great but will definitely pit and cause damage to the SS spokes over time. Stop before it's too late. There's other similar products made for bikes that spray on and wash off and won't cause damage - use them instead.
