This is a nutty place in that regard, with lots of flags from lots of lands, from "Down Under" to the Provinces flying over the world of ba.com. Enjoy people, ride safe

I usually read the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution every 4th of July, that's how I celebrate it but this year we are going for a weekend get away; since our wedding anniversary is on the 6th (12 yrs on Sunday) we decided why not take the kids to the beach, it will be fun and there's always fireworks displays at the beach. Should be fun.

Thats funny. I tell people that in the UK the 4th of July is known as Give-a-way Day. As in that's the day we gave you lot away ,and what do you know, you have been begging us back ever since.

Incidently, on a somewhat related topic. The military Channel is showing Revolutionary War documentrys all morning. This is fasinating stuff and well worth watching.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA!!!

And now to the tune of Mr. Sousa's most famous march, I invite EVERYBODY to sing along with me...HIT IT, maestro!...

Be kind to your web-footed friends,
For a duck may be somebody's mother.
Be kind to your friends in the swamp
Where the weather is always damp.
Now you may think that this is the end.
Well, it is.

(Have a safe, and reasonably sane, Fourth, everybody!!!)

Now I dont want to spark an international incedent.
But I've heard the British call the 4th of July.
"Good ridance day"

I am a Brit who lives in Vegas,I have kids and they make me celebrate...BOOO.

The wigs kept slipping in the redcoats eyes so they couldn't see to shoot back.
Who would have thought that lining up thousands of soldiers in red uniforms in the middle of a field was bad military tactics.....

Just kidding, glad to be in sunny Vegas and not rainy Manchester.....On second thought I think I will celebrate!

Have a great 4th,stay safe.

Hope you all have a great holiday.

Just think what a wonderful place you'd be living in now if we still owned the place.

On second thoughts perhaps not.

Just for the record, this holiday is NOT to celebrate kicking British butt. It's to celebrate the day that our founders announced that they had had enough of the British overlords imposing unfair requirements, encumberances, and other restrictions on the citizens in its colonies here which were not imposed on citizens living in England. Had King George III been a bit more sensitive and understanding to the plight of his otherwise faithful and compliant colonies, perhaps there would have been no need or enough popular support to necessitate a Declaration of Independence. Our Fathers were not 'kicking butt' on England' they were simply tired of having our butts kicked by England.

I'm just glad we're good friends and allies. And though it did take TWO good ****** kickings to convince the Brits, I'm glad they are still with us. If I'm not gonna buy an American Hardly, at least I can support my friends overseas. Happy birthday USA and high five to our British cousins! (by the way, I always fly two flags all week of the 4th, with the Stars and Stripes over the Union Jack. It always get my cousins to talking.)

I ended up working the 4'th. About midmorning a coworker, noting the unusual number of customers in the store, said, "What are all these people doing here? Why aren't they home drinking beer and setting off fireworks?"
I'm glad I worked though, A guy was in last week looking at tool boxes. He had put in for a job as a diesel mechanic and was figuring out what he would need. He got the job and yesterday, he came in to buy a nice toolbox (not the one with the 'fridge) and some tools. With some customers, you just feel good being there for them.
