Almost any 21" rim will work if you just have it respoked and re-use the stock hub and brake bits. Probably a lot cheaper that way as well since you don't have to buy a lot of redundant bits.
A word to the wise is not necessary. It is the stupid ones who need the advice.

Okay, Pat, where can he get a Speedmaster wheel respoked with a 21" rim? I'm thinking that will be cost-prohibitive... Curtis, you'll want to look for any America or Thunderbird wheel to get a traditional spoked hub. Perhaps someone around here would be willing to part with theirs if they've changed over to Speedmaster wheels. If you want to retain your dual discs, you'll need to watch ebay for a (rare) Thunderbird Sport wheel. If you don't feel you need dual discs, you should be able to find someone to trade your wheels, right fork leg, front master cylinder and right caliper for their America versions.

If you want to retain your dual front brake setup, you will have to find a Thunderbird Sport wheel. These are expensive, and super hard to find. If you don't mind losing a front brake, you can use the America hub. There is one on eBay right now. Click Here After you source a hub, you will need to either find a 36 spoke 21" rim or have a blank one drilled. Finding someone to lace and true the wheel should be the easiest part as most bike shops can do this. If you don't want the hassle of finding all the right parts, you can do what I did. Get the hub and call Buchanan Spoke and Rim. They'll drill the rim of your choosing and lace and true the wheel. I think I paid $460 for mine.

It is. All the bodywork is satin now, and I changed the seat out with a Corbin. Also switched to floorboards after riding to Myrtle Beach and back. Maybe one day I'll clean it and take some pictures of my own instead of stealing Jim's (Mackdaddy) pictures.

So how does the 21 effect the handling of our bikes? By my calculations it should take us outside acceptable rake and trail parameters and make the bike a little "floppy" at lower speeds. Any one give me a heads up on this?

That's what my original thought was, but to my surprise, I was wrong. I don't even notice a difference, other than the front being a little higher than it was before. Maybe....at ultra low speeds, the front is little hard to maneuver, but it's hardly enough to make me go back.

This is what I did...it wasn't that much...don't remimber what it cost.....not enough to cause me permanant brain injury.....front end feels heavier but handles much better at speed

Actually...I came up with the same calculations and raked my bike 3.5 degrees through new triple trees to get my figures "back into the green zone"....the bike is truly a dream.....I love it
