Riding home from Thunder on Sunday, had been raining and roads excessively wet, sputtered as if running out of juice ,switched to reserve and she died on me. Pulled over started right up. Drove to nearest gas station- gas not the issue. Any ideas.

Yeah, sounds like your breather tube coming off of your tank that has the roll over check ball in it is clogged. When you opened the gas cap, did it make a big sucking sound or a big WHISH? That is a definate sign it is blocked. To clear it, you have to lift the tank, and blow out the rubber hose attached to the bottom. Hope this helps.

This sounds like what happened to Zmilin and I on a group ride earlier this year. It had been raining and both of us encountered problems similar to what you describe. The fastest solution is to loosen your gas cap a little.
The longer better solution is to check your gas tank vent line and make sure it's not plugged. Do a search here on the board and I think you'll find suggestions such as cutting the vent line at an angle to help prevent moisture from building up and blocking it.
