Motorcyclist Cited For Driving 144 MPH
NEW YORK (AP); A motorcyclist clocked by state police driving 144 miles-an-hour in a 55 mile-an-hour zone in New York's Putnam County faces having his license suspended.

The state police in Brewster said the motorcycle driven by 21-year-old David Puchalski, of Carmel, was stopped at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at I-84 in the town of Southeast. The driver was clocked going 89 miles-an-hour higher than the posted speed limit.

The driver was freed pending a July 8th appearance in Southeast Court.
State Police Sgt. Ted Daley said that speeding more than 40-miles-an-hour higher than the posted speed limit results in 11 points being charged against the driver's license, which automatically results in a suspension.

Lucky he was in New York. If he were in rural Tennessee he would be in jail. Listening to banjo music.

Konnektikot anything over 100 gets you taken away in cuffs,
and vehicle impounded..At least it used to.

The percentage you're paying is too high-priced While you're living beyond all your means And the man in the suit has just bought a new car From the profit he's made on your dreams

Yeah. Lucky for him. Here in Florida come this October 2008,

"As of October 1st, anyone caught doing 30mph over the speed limit in Florida faces vehicle confiscation, five to ten years in prison and a ten-year license suspension. Bill HB 137, which was signed into law earlier today, was originally targeted at motorcyclists, but was amended at the last minute to include all vehicles." State Rep. Carlos Lopez-Cantera, is a moron

I've done 130+ in a 65 on my Speed Triple. Don't want to think of the people I would have met in a Dallas jail!

Yep. I got nabbed at 125 in a 55...on a speed triple. Super early in the morning 4 lane highway, not a car in sight...except the cop. I was paying absolutely no attention, and just rolling on the gas clicking gears.

His comment "If I call this in, I have to place you in jail and impound your bike. That is a lot of paperwork this early on a Saturday. I don't want to do that, and I don't think you do either." He knew I understood, grilled me some more, and let me go with "I have your information in my notebook, don't run a stop sign in Denver."

I drove 45mph to the dealer waited till they opened and consigned the bike that day.

After 2 years on the thing, I had no concept of how fast I was going everywhere. The big realization was that if something had gone pear shaped at that speed, a ticket would have been irrelevant.

I literally spent my get out of jail free card that day, and have been happy on a bike with a third the HP ever since.

Well John, I hear they first make you dye your hair blue, AND then you are required to drive with one of your turn-indicators blinking at all times!

Wow, I had a similar experience. Rode like crazy on my Ducati until a friend got nabbed; bike impounded, prison, everything. I sold the Duc and bought a Speedmaster. Then got a ticket for 12 over three weeks later. I guess it could have been worse.

Think over here anyone caught speeding over 100 mph faces a hefty fine and invariably a driving ban of one year. Not yet an imprisonable offence unless someone gets hurt or worse...

Sometimes it takes a whole tank full of fuel before you think straight

5-10? Wow that sounds a little extreme,Columbian drug runners get less time.90 days would seem more reasonable for a kid just being stupid, I mean as long as he didnt kill anybody.

And I thought the blue hairs doing 30 under were resticted to driving down the side walk.
