Has anyone tried the Flush Mount Gas Cap from newspeedmaster.com on the 2008 speedmaster? The website says that it may not fit the 2006 and up bikes.

I have one and love it. BUT, I've heard on this forum that it doesn't fit the later models. The factory cap used to loosely fit my bike. I think they made a change that made it fit more snugly but, in the process, made the Kuryakin cap too tight to fit. Check with NewSpeedmaster (Brent) before ordering.

There's some tips for the later model at this thread: http://www.bonnevilleamerica.com/forums/...;page=&vc=1FWIW, I really like mine and it would be worth the effort to modify & fit.

Fit easily on my '07 Speedmaster....no mods necessary.

Not according to Brent. He told me recently on this very point that if it didn't fit, I bought it.

Whatever change happened, it apparently happened with 07 and later models. It fit my 05 fine, but my stock cap was a little loose. The flush cap is made by Kuryakn (sp?) for Harleys. It fit my bike like the stock one should have. My guess is they re-tooled the tank, the stock cap fits better, but the flush one won't.

I read somewhere that TRIUMPH made the thread a bit neater in 07 because the cap`s were not tight, and if you do a bit of filing on the thread of the flush mount cap they will fit so they say , mine fit`s but it`s 05

They will all work. I went with the largest (fattest) one because it makes the the cap more flush with the console.

I just got one from Brent and for the life of me the thing will not go on my 05 TBA. I have cranked on it but it will only go on about 1/2 way. Any thoughts?

It's beyond me. I put one on my '07 Speedmaster and it spun right in. Have heard others say they had to modify the threads. Believe they sanded them down some.

Check the Kury gas cap thread. Mines an 07 SM and required some minor mod...
