I have got a bit of a problem when starting my bike. Nothing at all happens with side stand down, in neutral etc. If I take the stand up, still in neutral, nothing. If I then pull in clutch lever, it will start. I can then let the clutch lever out and it will not cut out, but it will if I put the stand down, even though its still in neutral.(Checked the fuses, battery connections, neutral switch wire for grounding etc)

Been to the dealer who reckons its either the neutral or the side stand switches (among other things) - anyone else had this problem? And another thing - the neutral indication light is out as well.

( & yeah I did have the igniton turned on before all the smart-arses ask!!)

Sounds like a bad neutral start switch. I would start there.

I would tend to agree with Rob. Neutral switch 14, Ground or diode pack 15 but Im not sure how that thing works.

I had the same type of problem (just once).I sprayed the little plunger on the switch with WD40 & moved it with a screw driver back & forth never a problem after that

I'd go with that, is the bulb ok (not blown) as that might cause it to have a break in the circuit?

Mine was acting up on me for 1 day last week. It would start in gear, with the kickstand up, and the neutral light was staying on. It fixed itself though. No problem since that day. Go figure... These switches seem to be prone to give trouble, including the very common leak.

Bottom of the engine behind the sump next to the oil filter on the right side.

Shaun try giving the side stand switch a good squirt of WD40 and if no joy, I would go for a replacement neutral switch
