I saw a listing for a '78 T140V Bonneville with 12,695 miles. In the pictures it looks pristine. The guy is asking $3750 for it. I was wondering if this is a decent price.

He's asking $200 over the KBB price.

In 1980 I paid $1600 for my 1978.I later sold it for $900 and it went to New Zealand.I know it's not important, just amazing to see where prices have gone.I bought that bike with 3000 miles on it.

Pricing is always interesting. In '76 I paid an even $2k for a new Bonneville. Like many others here, in retrospect I gave it away as much as sold it. Wasn't '78 the Silver Jubilee year? There was one of those floating around here in somebody's garage a couple years ago. I forget the price he told me, but ($3,500) seems about right.

John,
The Silver Jubilee was 1977 and the Golden Jubilee was 2002. The reason I know this is because I have a friend that has both bikes.

Sorta on the same topic, last month a friend of mine asked me if I would look at an old Triumph he was considering buying. He told me where it was and I knew the bike and owner actually so didn't evn have to look at it. It is an old 1969 bonnie that is beat to cr*p, never taken care of, rusty as all get out, bad tires, bad brakes, starts ocassionally but the wires like to catch on fire. Anyway, the guy wanted $5,000US for the POS. I told my friend to run away very fast. he found a nice 75 for $3200 that was completely restored and is very happy. Now if he just learns to ride a bike he can actually take the thing out on the road.
