So after much deliberation i'm going to replace the cush drive myself. so, in my highly organised mind i'm killing as many birds with one stone as i can when the rear wheal is off. I already decided to replace the stock rear sprocket for a betting looking one, and i'm considering changing the front sprocket. So, this is my question, how many teeth are best? i tend to get to 3rd like 1st & 2nd gear never existed, so will getting more teeth prolong my gearing my much or will i not notice?

Not sure what you're running now, but with 19/42 on my BA I hit the rev limiter at 50mph in 1st, 80mph in 2nd, 105mph in 3rd. Haven't found it in 4th or 5th. She runs out of juice around 125mph.

wow! not sure that setup would work in the UK. I've got stock sprokets as it stands. I'd be happy to extend 2nd by 5mph and 3rd by 10, not looking for massive changes.

Just add 1 tooth to whatever you have on the front now. I think you'd be happy. Only about $20.00 to change it if you're not!

Yes I went from a standard 17 on my TBA to a 18. I like it and am not searching for a another gear all the time when I hit 5th. Brent at www.Newpeedmaster.com sells them. I also got the big socket to make the change

Pooh-Bah, how many RPM's did it drop in 5th gear and did you have to add links or a new chain?

Just so you know the Pooh-Bah has to do with how many post he has make and nothing to do with his name sort of like the stranger is below your handle. No you don't have to get a different chain for either the 18 or 19 tooth sprockets. I also run the 18 as far as RPM just depends how fast your going , but like he said I don't tend to look for 6th out on the highway.

Did the one tooth change in front make any difference in gas mileage or make moving from stop signs more difficult, especially when riding double?

Can't speak to riding double but going up one tooth in front didn't make a noticeable change until I got up to speed, then I saved about 500 rpm at cruising speed and that gave me a tiny bit more range...which, of course, I immediately wasted with my right wrist

Going up one tooth will make a difference in gas mileage primarily on the highway. If you ride mostly all highway miles, you'll notice a slight improvement. But around town, I don't think you'll notice any difference. My America came with a 17/42 and I changed to the 18T. I liked the taller gears and not looking for 6th, but did notice a little less oomph starting off two up.

Now that I have the BB installed and way more torque, it has plenty of oomph, and I can't tell the difference when my wife rides.
