Has anyone done any body work on the tail of their america/speedmaster? Changed the rear fender, taillight, license plate ... any of that?
Anyone know where to get parts for this kind of make over?

Yes yes yes. From bobbing the fender to installing a bonneville tank. Way too many times to discuss all. Please search until those that have made changes chime in.

Everything has been done. Customizing (bobbing, extending, smoothing) stock fenders, replacing with Harley fenders or Honda fenders or aftermarket fenders or trailer fenders. The sky's the limit. Same goes for lighting.
What did you have in mind? Once you pick a direction there's a wealth of information here.

What I want to do is replace the rear tailight/license plate assembly with something that has a more sleeker look to it. Get the license plate to lay flat, or even hang off the bottom and replace that big tail light with something smaller and more stylish. I would like to keep the stock fender, though cutting or chopping it are certainly options.

This license plate bracket from Brent at NewSpeedmaster.com will lay down the plate. Comes with led lights too. Click Here Fast Eddy at www.fasteddysports.com has good stuff too.

Got rear ended last summer so was a chance to put the bike back together a little differently. I got a new fender and cut the portion out with the big indent where the stock light fits. The donor section came from the top of the wrecked fender, what would be under the pillion as this had the right shape and curve already. Cut that out and welded it in to the new fender. Minor finishing work then squirted it with some satin black urethane. Installed a new led tail light, small license bracket with an led strip to light the plate and then some led bullets. That giant Bozo nose of a tail light and them pumpkins stuck out there in the breeze just never did it for me. [image] [/image]
