Well, duh... Speedmaster of course
But really, sit on them both and get which one feels the most comfortable to you. Because of the bars, the ergonomics are completely different.

Agreed sit on them both. Theres a big difference in the feel. Also take into consideration if you are going to do a lot of 2 up riding. America is designed more for that.

I pick up my phantom black '08 America on July 5th. I'm really jazzed and all of the positive things I keep reading about the America only add fuel to the fire. I really feel this is the best bike I could get for the money. You can bet I will be posting photos as soon as I have the keys in hand.
Cheers, Sid

A friend of my wife's is looking for a new bike so I did a spreed sheet of features she is looking for. She wanted high dependability and low maintenance. Low weight, alloy wheels, disk brakes low seat height, low maintenance final drive and fuel injection. I was surprised how behind the times Honda is. Based on these criteria the Kawa 900 came up #1 with the America #2 because she didn't want to have to deal with a chain drive.
After 13,000 trouble free miles I was kind of taking my AMerica for granted and this gave me a new look at what I think is the best bike on the market. The only repair has been a failed speedometer at 12,300 miles which Triumph fixed free of charge. You can't go wrong with an America-and we haven't even gotten to the fun factor yet!

Have just hit the 60,000 kilometre mark or just over 40,000 miles and aside from disc pads etc no problems to speak of. Maintained properly think I will get many more from my 03 BA. Still has original battery. The chain is the only bugbear that I dislike but I can live with that.I think if Triumph had bought these out with a belt or shaft they would have sold even more.

I have a brand X with bars and pegs similar to the Speedmaster. I find my America to be more comfortable and it handles much better on dirt roads.

OK folks - sat on Speedmaster and America, and knew I had to have the America. Had a short test and felt great. Getting some accessories installed and will pick it up later this week. I'm a so excited, this really is a great bike. Didn't drive, but looked closely at Vstar and Boulevard and this bike is heads above. Sure it costs more, but definitely worth it. And the people at the dealership and here have been great. Can't wait to get going and plug into more and more.
By the way, for anyone in the area, there is a new dealership in Livermore, CA in a few weeks (sister operation to the Calmoto in Mountain View). Looking forward to attending that on the new bike! I'll put some pics after I get it. Got saddle bags and engine bar.
Cheers all! CHUCK

I'm averaging 1000 miles per month, riding year round. The only mechanical problems I've had were self induced. Even with all the maintenance, repairs and customizing bits, i've spent less than if I had bought an average Harley, and the Triumph gets a lot more respect! You really can't go wrong with a Speedy or America.

Congratulations. Picked my America up mid April and have 2500 miles on it already. When you get on it you won't want to get off.

Bought my Speedmaster Sept 28th 2005 from the guys at Cal BMW/Triumph in Mountainview. I commute 42 miles per day five days a week except when fog is on the ground or raining. Today turned 22,925 miles. Just ready for my third front tire, on my second rear tire, new front break rotors with third set of pads, still on second set in rear, new chain at 9,000 miles and many oil changes. I do all my own work and have had more pleasure riding this bike than I can say. I hope to pass this bike on to my son and will be buying a Triumph rocket 3 touring as a second bike soon. I would think you could be happy with either a speedy or an america now that they have the same engines. I still like the idea of having a carburetor but I guess that is a thing of the past for all new triumphs. To date had my horn replaced on warranty and other than that nothing else broken.
Best of luck and ride safe. See you up at Alices on 35 some time. Gary
