Soren you should have set up a new account and posted that and watched the mayhem as it errupted now that would have been funny. Great joke by the way.....now I need to find a forum full of gullible people and post this

it just would give a different result

Just wait, in a week it will be an "urban legend"

Actually it's true. After reading this thread I went to the garage and tried it on my bike. The results were exactly as he described!

This sounds like a reasonable idea. I need to clean the inside of my engine. I'll try it on the bike before i try it on the car.

What grade sand should i use?

The sad thing about this storey. I know of a few younger adults (teenagers) who might actually be tempted by this.

As a side benefit, I bet it would clean the carbon off your valves really well.

And on a side note. Could someone really be this stupid? Yes they can. I was at a friends body repair shop some years back. A guy rolls up in his car. Tell's my friend he wants to get it painted and wants a price on painting it. He said he'd already sanded it. All he needs it to get it painted. We walk out to look at it. The guy has sanded it down to the bare metal. So what the problem you may ask. The problem is he used a hand grinder. Not sander, a hand grinder to do this. He seems quite proud of his accomplishment for a moment. Well we're standing there looking at each other in amazement. Trying to figure out what to say. The guy senses there must be a problem. Finally my buddy offers up. Mister, You have really messed up.. The guy searching for relief finally offers this up. "Well if you don't know, you don't know". I couldn't contain myself any longer and just burst out laughing. Even the guy joined in the laughter. Good thing it was an old car and of not much value. My friend did paint the car but never could get all the scars out of it.

Pure sand can be quite abrasive, a clean sandy loam on the other hand generally achieves the desired effect.

I dunno, some people are just terminally stupid. I remember once waiting in line to get on a freeway, (they have 1 car at a time redlights on the onramps there) and I was about 4th in line when a 4 cylinder Buick went flying by at around 80 MPH clattering like it was being pulled by a team of horses. Going up a steep hill, it slowed down considerably (which 4 cylinder Buicks tend to do anyway) and I passed it.
halfway down the other side, here it came again, going even faster and making more noise. About 2 miles later, he had slowed to about 45 MPH and the car seemed to be having convulsions. Just before I passed, there was a flash under the front and the car dived for the side of the road. There in the middle of the lane was a smoking rod cap that had been ejected through the engine, bit no one drop of oil was on the roadway. Bleeding fool had driven who knows how far with no oil in the engine.
I also knew some fool that crashed an immaculate letter series 62 or 63 Chrysler 300 because he didn't know enough to put brake fluid in it.

So yes, there are people that stupid.

That's funny.
Even more funny are the people believing him.
Now I don't have any illusions about the lack of intelligence of some people, but it looks like someone's trolling .
And getting a few bites.

On a related note; back in the day, we would seat the rings in a new rebuild by running Bon Ami through the carb. Just race engines that had to be ready immediately.
And not much of it either.

OMG. It is so hard to type through the tears. I haven't laughed that hard in a while. The Seafoam treatment put it over the top for me.
