does it matter if you use o-ring or x-ring oil on our chains?

As far as i know, only difference is cross section of the ring. X has 2 sealing surfaces. I use chainwax. Went a few times not lubing chain for 800 or 1000 miles, chain lasted almost 20,000 miles.

I've used just about every one: chain wax, WD-40, PJ1, motor oil, even vaseline when nothing else was lying around.
The only thing I've found is bad is NO oil.
