I don't know how many riders we have from Iowa but once the waters back off we should have a ride and party...I'll provide the food and beer...I could also come up with a band and camping... If you have'nt seen the news it's been a bad week in the midwest

Once the waters back off, the roads will need to be rebuilt in many places, as when the water recedes, the road wont be there.

The IOWA DT site has some pretty wild photos, go mid way through and see the chicken ( how does he cross the road ? ).

In a boat.

My uncle lives there, my mom spoke with him earlier and thankfully he is about an hour away from any flooding. From what I saw on TV it looks bad though.

I've seen the news ~~ you guys have had it tough ~~ hang in there.

I lived in Muscatine, IA during one of the great floods of the 90's. I had heard ~~ many times ~~ that with the systems of locks and dams Old Man River would never flood again. Kind of reminded me a lot of the famous last words regarding the Titanic ~~ not even God himself could sink it.

John MacPhee wrote an informative book about the Mississippi river, from Minnesota to the Gulf, what it has done down through time, also chronicling our engineering attempts to harness it's excesses. Granted, much of today's events are on the big river.

Doesn't do much to salve the wounds, communities and lives under water. Except to say, if nothing else, river people are resilient.

Well, I've offered before, if you folks would split that rain with us 50/50, we would all be a lot happier.

Last year, there wasn't any significant flooding up north and my pasture was elbow high. I guess the jet stream is running more to the north this year and what a difference.
