'02 was the only official year of the Bonneville America, but there were a surplus of Bonneville America decals that made it onto '03 Americas until they ran out fo stock.

The Siamese twins are a whole other category. Wether it's a SM, BA, TBA, or TA, I'm just glad to be in the whole picture. Almost 3 years and not one iota of buyer's regret. I now worry about now being able to replace exactly what I have if anything happened to it.

The '03 became the America as soon as they used up all the leftover '02 Bonneville America stickers, maybe the second or third month of production.

I thought they had managed to resume production a few months before the model changeover.

That would be right, '03 production started around September of '02. I believe sometime in october or November was when they ran out of the BA stickers and started using the new America ones.

If you look at the the 03 literature from Triumph it says Bonneville America. The change really didn't occur until the 2004 model year. Actually I prefer the the deliniation because the bikes are so different than the standard Bonneville that it's better to not have the confusion.

I see...Im glad they changed it....the names too freaking long...I remember when i first bought it i was trying to explain what kinda bike i had and it was confusing enough explaining that harley didnt make triumph, let alone the "bonneville america" title

My 06's insurance certificate says Bonneville America. So does the one for the 03. Neither of them of them have sickers that say BA.....

Gina 03 America - Pretty stock - except the TBS wheel... 06 America - missing, presumed in bits. With it's TBS wheel... 09 America - It's very blue....

You can tell our bikes are British.

Production line associate, "Erh Guv, we ran out of Bonneville stickers for the side cover on the America range of bikes, what you want me to do."
Production supervisor. "ooh, bugger me. I dont know. Lets put the kettle on and call Bazz the production manager, here'll know what to do"
Production line associate and Supervisor "Hey Bazz, we ran out of Bonneville stickers for the side panel on the America, what shall we do".
Bazz, "Oh bugger me, I dont know. Stick the kettle on and will think about it over a cuppa and a bacon sarnie".
Production line associate, "We could order some more"
Everyone else, "SHUT UP you pratt. You know how much paperwork is involved with that. Shutt up and pass the jaffa cakes"
"Eureeka", shouts Bazz. Well not quite, the English translation is unprintable, "i've got it. Change the name, no one will ever notice"

And so is born, The Triumph America.
