I have never used a music download site like iTunes or anything, everything I have on my computer I have ripped from my CDs. But, there is some stuff that I just cannot seem to find anywhere on CD (mostly 80s new wave stuff like the Flying Lizards and The Eupopeans and some rare 80s punk like MIA, Adrenalin OD and some otehr stuff).

So, those of you that download music, who do you recomend, especially for hard to find stuff. I really want to avoid any P2P, I just dont trust getting files off of other peoples computers.

I've never had a problem with itunes. Used Napster back in the day, we all know how that turned out. Have used KaZaa and Limewire in the past, but like you said the P2P stuff sucks.

I've been using Limewire for the past couple of years, and have never had any problems.

But i too would be interested in any other sites. Especially if they are free.

Bit torrent I have never had any problems finding rare and obscure tracks using that method.

I used Kazaa for a while then shifted over to Bear Share. Both were free and pretty good. They both suck now. I'm loads of help aren't I Soren. I'm about to give in and begin giving money to iTunes.

One thing you could try but it's really hit and miss, are the newsgroups. I havent' checked lately but I've been able to find some really good music there. Some will have whole albums posted.

If'n ya decide to use iTunes, ALWAYS use a DRM stripper. If you paid for it, you should be able to use it as you please. I'll use the Amazon download option before iTunes since theirs (at least last time I used it) are DRM-free.

Hey Soren,
Itunes is ok but remember that they only sell AAC files that won't play in Windows Media or most mp3 players that aren't Ipods.

Check your local library. I check out cd's all the time from mine and put them right on the computer, doesn't cost a dime.... unless you return them late

Kazaa is full of spyware I wouldn't use it. Have to be careful of viruses on Limewire too but the program is clean and works well as long as you watch the files you get. Emule is another good one.

Shareaza is good and spyware free (last time I used it, at least).
