Thoughts on this ride? Any links to further information?

From what I can garner, it may be a CB750F. An estate has this for sale. I haven't inspected it nor have I looked at it. Was told that the deceased simple stopped riding it.

From what I have read, these bikes are sensitive to old fuel. I imagine if it has oil and the motor spins it may be worth a shot.

The estate list the value of this bike at 3 bills. Restored versions go for 2K. Reliability of this old bike is quite good.

Yeah this is a rice burner, but it was burning rice before rice was bad.

For $300 I'd buy it! That's a good deal if the bike is stock especially. You could buy it, cleran it up nad flip it for easily for much more than that.

Yes, that is what I was thinking. If it is Stock. And it probably is being as how the ole guy had a 57 Rolls, an 03 Hummer, a 94 vette, a 69 Camaro...

Now home to ask the boss if I can look at it.

The only thing you would need to do is to change the oil and gas, pull the carbs and let them sit overnight in a bucket of parts/carb cleaner. Hose them off a bit and maybe pull the jets to clean up a little. Toss in a set of new plugs and ride it. I bet I could get that thing to start with the first kick. Pretty much only thing ever went bad on them was the carbs glazing up if they sat. Otherwise they ran forever. Great motor and they're very easy to work on.

Thanks Pat.

That's what I wanted to hear about the motor and that's what I was thinking needed to be done. The 750 would make a sweet retro back-up ride too.

Shoot yeah jim... go for it man, I have the 650 put back together except for the tank and side covers that I'm working on now. Hopefully before long I'll have it back on the road again as a part of my fleet.

Hi Chy. I'll be looking forward to seeing your 650 in all her glory this September 17!

I'll be inspecting the 750 this Saturday. I was told to drive past the main house to the right and go all the way past the tennis court. Next to the pool I would find a cabaña. The bike is in the cabaña. Hum. I wonder if they keep the AC on 75 or 76 degrees? Sounds better all the time.

I'll take some pics. Lynn says she is OK with me adding to the stable. Whew. I guess the scheduled new kitchen helps and I'll be doing the Bluesbass two-step this December.

Say hello to Di for us. Growl at grrr and pat bubba on the head for us too. See ya'll soon.

However, given the Model data info at the SOHC4 site, it may well be a CB750K3.

Moe,

If you are looking for a second and older bike Joes Garagae has a mid 1972 Triumph Bonneville for sale. The bike looks real nice and is Gold/white.

Tom, if I could buy it for 3 bills, OK. But I think Jeff is asking a wee bit more than that for it! That is the trump Lynn and I saw at the Pig & Whistle isn't it? How you been? I almost didn't even recognize your truck the other day (week, month?) in Cape Canaveral!

I am sure Jeff is asking much more than 3 bills, but it is a Triumph. The only problem I have with Honda's of that age is getting parts. I had a Honda from the late 70's and getting parts for it 4 years later wasn't all that easy. It all depended on which parts I needed.

Currenlty at-sea again, and off the coast of Costa Rica (Pacific side) slowly heading home. I was in San Diego for about 4 days at the start of this trip. Really enjoyed Old Towne, Little Italy and the Gas Lamp district.

Clicking on this picture will take you to a gallery of more photos.

I went to look at the 1973 CB750 (re Howdy) only to discover that it was a 1972 motor and frame. (at least per the numbers) I wanted to buy it and restore her, but the front end doesn't appear stock. Most everything checked out. The motor turns over, it has oil, the brakes are dry, most of the rubber is dry rotted, the carb bowls have some nice thick varnish, but all in all this ride is something to consider. Not for me, (had the front end been stock...) Oh well.

Any of you guys interested in her?

Good decision. The CB750 is very touchy about frontend changes. I saw someone on one with 4 inch extended forks that had to 'walk' the bike up to about 20 - 25 MPH before it was stable enough to ride. If course, I just had to go out of my way so that I could be in the next lane over with the 8 over forks on my XLCH at a redlight just to be able to put my feet on the pegs first, then ride away.

What a fun project! Go for it. And as far as being a "rice burner" goes, the Japanese are sending aid our way for relief efforts following Katrina. Rice is once again - nice...

But, we built them a whole new country after they wasted their old one trying to kill us.
