As a new member I feel obligated to give back to this board as it has helped me so much in the past 2 weeks with my recent TBA purchase. Trying to decide which windshield to buy was a hard call for me. I recently had a HD Heritage softail with a "look through" quick release style windshield that I really liked. So I just bought and installed a Menphis Shades Fats 19" quick release windshield. Fast Eddy hooked me up. IMHO it looks good and works great. It is not to big for the bike and completely protects me and the girl friend. I recomend it for anyone who is looking to take the wind beating out of your ride. It made all the difference between a quick ride and a day out. $289 to my door and I'm a happy guy. Highly recommed it.

Jim, love my memphis shades too. sometimes I look at it and think it is too big but then I think of the times I had a smaller one in place and it didn't do it's job. Funny thing about the quick release is I only use it when I wash the bike.

Jim....what year is your BA and did you buy the mounting brackets from Eddy as well? I have an 07 BA with the tapered fork shrouds and would like to find quick release screen. I currently have the Triumph summer screen, it looks great but there is way to much buffeting for me.
Thanks and enjoy your new ride!

My TBA is a 2003. It does not have the tappered fork issue. The $289 was with the quick release brackets - everything needed. I also have an 2005 AIH Texas Chopper which has a small tomestone style windshield. The little windshield is better than nothing but in my opinion if you are buying a shield to make your ride more comfortable then go all the way and block that wind. If you are bar hopping then just leave it at home. I bought the TBA for a comfortable pratical ride and The Memphis Fats has made all the difference. And I like the way it looks with the windshield on. Like Mike said, it might not be removed. Once you ride with it, the difference in comfort makes taking it off just not worth it. Good luck.

Just a note. I bought a Clearview last year and sent the first one back because the mounting holes for the rods were at the wrong angle. The replacement wasn't that much better but I made it work with a bunch of grommets. The postage was enough that it didn't make sense for me to keep trying to get a windshield that fit exactly the OEM mounting brackets. It has to do with the angle they drilled the mounting holes and the arc of the windshield not quite matching.
The windshield itself is excellent.

I love my Fats screen and pop it on/off this time of the year pretty frequently (rode with it on and than off today alone. It's a snap to remove, but I sure would have liked to have the quick release feature (new this year). I hung a Lowes tool hanger on my wall. Took a wooden dowel, put an eye hook on one end. When I pop off the shield, I slip the dowel thru and hang it upside down on the garage wall. The tool they supply hangs beside it (and a mini one in my sissy-bar bag) The great thing about the Memphis Shades line is you can choose Fats or Slim in the height that suits. The only downside is the screen needs cut to clear the driving lights, which isn't necessary with an OEM screen.

I put one on a few years ago and the buffeting was terrible. Lowers helped a lot but not enough. I fabricated some longer lowers and the comfort level was greatly improved. The only drawback was that the Triumph driving lights didn't fit without either a bracket to move them forward a few inches or making cut outs in the windshield.
We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

I did my own cutouts and left some space above the lamp. I think this helped reduce (pretty much eliminate) any of the head buffeting experienced with my OEM Roadster screen. The cuts were a little nerve wracking, but not terribly difficult to pull off.

The height of the windshield is obviously important. I am 5'9" and I'm using a 19.5 " Fats. I look through it not over it. There is some turbulance but not alot. It is very simular to the factory windshield on my HD Heritage. I personally think that it is as good as can be expected. Below 50 MPH there is almost nothing. At higher speeds it is still pretty good. I'm very pleased. I will post a pic when I have more time.

Sounds like more work. I do have a few good shots but does anybody really want to see them before I go through this?
