Just got back from 2 1/2 weeks in the South West USA.
Did 2800 miles around all the sites, popular and not so popular. Saw hundreds of bikes (90% of which waved or gave that oh so cool hand sticking out thing) and only saw one Triumph, a Bonnie ridden by the largest bloke I've seen for a while. Looked like a moped.

I rode a Harley, you've just got to and really enjoyed the big lumbering thing but was missing the Speedy and telling everyone what a great bike it was.

Expected to see a few Americas/Speedys about, you must have all been somewhere else.

What a place for riding a bike, you lucky lucky people and you're still moaning at $4.12 for a gallon.

Anyone on this side of the pond, I cant recomend the trip highly enough, dont believe our beliefs of long straight roads, I've never seen as many bends, in the words of a great American, they were awsome.

Got to diet now cant fit in my leathers, you boys can eat.

Thank you for sharing your experience Chris. There really are some fantastic roads over here and the southwest certainly has its fair share. Hope you get to come back again...especially with the Speedy.

I always like it whan a fellow Brits comes over here and enjoys themselves. Brilliant place isn't?

Now, as for your report, you score a great big fat F. Now go home and write me a 500 word essay on your trip to the USA and accompany it with some photos. I want it by tomorrow, or you will be conrfirned to riding a HD Sportster for the next 50,000 miles.

Missed you by a couple of days, got into Las Vegas on the 18th. and went through Prescott Valley via Sedona,and Jerome (now thats a bikers town) on the 31st. May.
I gave the Prescott sign a wave as I knew you.de been partying the week before.
We like Oak Creek Canyon, scared the **** out of the wife on those twistys.
I'll get some pics sorted in the next few days.
Hav'nt got time at the moment since I've got home I've been destined to sort the Speedy out. AI is now off and my relocated front indicators now are functional.
Going out to find a few curves and wave dementedly at oncoming bikes.
Got to say every person I saw and spoke to on bikes, even the so called bad asses were more than friendly, got to sort out the pennies now for doing more of Colorado and Yellowstone next year. Oh and persued the wife taht due to the exchange rate the more we spend the more we save.

Uhh, they saw you coming and hid all the Triumphs, wimmin and good booze?

Live on the east coast myself in the lil state of Delaware. Just dont see triumphs all that much. Happy to say in the past 3 weekends while on runs I have run across one other guy on a triumph at each ride and BAM ya got an instant friend. But thats part of what I love about my pony, its not just another f---kin hardly in a long line of hardlys. Few pass her by without stoppin to check out my sweet ride, Dats right, Im a proud daddy.

I hope you got to see the Grand Canyon and some of the other natural wonders in this part of the world. I just got back from the North Rim of the Grand Canyon this weekend (my first time there), and it occurred to me that I live in a place that has so much fantastic scenery and riding and its all in my back yard so to speak, why am I not seeing it all. Gonna fix that in the next couple months and years!!!
Yes, bikers here seem to be pretty friendly people, regardless of what they ride - saw lots of them this weekend myself. Including a couple blokes from over the pond - from New Forest.

And this one not much earlier between Tropic and Torrey in Utah.
We had 109 degrees coming out of Vegas and within 24 hrs hit 37 degrees on the mountain, that was a surprise. I know it looks like a Harley but in my heart it was a Speedy. You'll be glad to know that it got sunblasted, rained on, snowed on, in freezing fog and hail during the trip and it never got cleaned once. You should have seen the rental guys face when we returned them.



This was the rabble I went with at Arches National Park,spot the habitual Harler riders, top place though.



and this is the tourist one of Monument Valley, this is the stretch that Forest Gump stopped running, or so I'm told.


Between us we got over 2 thousand photos so I'm struggling sorting thru them at the moment.
Every time I see them I want to come visit you again.

From the looks of your pics and the tenor of your text, it appears you had a great trip through a part of the world known for it's unique beauty.

Here's to the hope that the next time you're out this way, I'll be able to buy that first round.
