Our little Desert Burgh continues to hold some mystique in its lore as a modern day Wild West entity.

Its sad but after a lengthy pursuit of a wayward young mentally disturbed yute police officer Eric Hite was shot in the head and killed. He was shot on Sunday and he died of his head wound (removed from life support) on Monday at noon. Two other officers were also shot by the shooter David Nicholas Delich. One in the shoulder and the other suffered a grazing head wound. The shooter utilized an assault rifle and police were alerted when he fired shots into several homes in Northwest Tucson. Luckily no civilian was injured at that time. The shooter was then pursued up Mt Lemmon Highway where he finally surrendered to police after firing shots at police at two different locations enroute. Premliminary background data on Delich show he has been a threat to society for some time that has gone unrecognized. Strange disconnected threats on Myspace idicating an unreasoned hatred of police and threatening to others.

He will never ever get out of prison. I hope he he is sentenced to death and disposed of as a rabid dog.

I will never ever second guess the police when they take down a suspect in protection of their own safety. Shoot first and ask questions later.

Officer Hite was a 20 year AF veteran. He will be missed.

I would rethink that statement if I were you.

I thihk when the moment of truth might arrive and its clearly a potential for him or you.....

Take him down and worry about the consequences later. I am sure the cops who apprehended him finally when he "gave himself up" may well have had thoughts of "taking care of business"

If they had..... public sympathy would have turned a blind eye to any rumor of trigger happy police
