Any advice/suggestions for swapping the bars? I know the America has longer control cables, but should I have any problems with that other than securing the excess? Anything else I should know for the swap? Thanks for the help!

For the most part, I don't think you'll have any problems other than working out an alternate routing. About the only thing you will have to change for sure is the brake hose because any looping or such will tend to trap air bubbles.

I swapped. There's not enough slack in the lines to make that much of a difference once the Speedy's taller risers come into play.

I think you should be fine, as Ed said I don't think there will be enough slack to cause a problem. Going the other way is a different story if not swapping risers too. You won't be able to slap SM bars on the America risers, you will need something taller so the bars clear the tank.

I have Speedie bars on my BA with 5" risers. Only thing I noticed was the clutch cable makes a bigger loop(more radius). I will e-mail you pics if you like. Uncle Charlie

I picked up some deuce risers along with the bar, so no problem there. Sounds like I should have no problem getting them to work. Now I just have to fix the $1000 or so worth of cosmetic damaged I did laying it down last week. I am picking it up from the dealer tomorrow morning. I had them do an inspection of the damage and write me up a list of what I would need to do to bring the bike back to new. I will be posting a list of the things I am going to need in hopes some of the board members might have those available and for sale.

FYI, here's a pic of your deuce risers with speedie bars. One thing you will have to do Trey is drill out slightly larger holes in the triple tree for the Deuce bolts to fit. When I did it, the bit drilled through nice and easy.

You can buy/make adapters so you don't have to drill your tree for the risers. The holes in the tree are 10MM the risers are 1/2" 13 threads if I remember correctly.

When I switched over to Superbars, I only changed the clutch cable to a Speedy one because I didn't like the extra curve in the cable, and it was too close to the exhaust. Everything else OK.

Where might I start looking to buy the adapter in this case?

Those look like them but be sure of the threads before you buy. If I remember right the top tree is about an inch thick where the risers come through so you need about 1 1/2" on the 10mm end and the other thread should be 1/2" 13 again going from memory.

I actually ordered the ones from Scootworks as they only charge $3.50 for shipping, whereas ThunderMFG wants $12.00 to ship them from Phoenix to San Diego.

Got the new riser adapters from Scootworks, installed them in the Harley risers, and there is plenty of bolt left to go through the triple tree. Looks like it should be a breeze once I remove the America bars install the Speedmaster bars.
