I am relatively new to the board and have never attended one of these rallies as a rider/customer (covered the races in my sportswriter days), and I am going to ride out from Pittsburgh Saturday morning.
My first time too for a Triumph sponsored event.

Boy do I have questions. I have not gotten my shiftless a** signed up for a local RAT yet -- does that preclude me from parking in the Triumph RAT area? What do you do with your gear when you park -- is there a central gear check, or do you lug it w/ you the best you can? If not RAT parking, where do the other bikes rest?
I think the Triumph parking is for everyone with a Triumph not just people who have signed up for the "special" party. I know there is a gear check in but at any big bike event I've always just left my gear with the bike and it's been fine. As for the RAT pack, I've never been a part of one.

I was also hoping to meet some of you good - and maybe not so good ;-) - folks whose posts I have been reading on this site for more than a year. Are BA folk congregating anywhere on the grounds? Sorry for so many questions, and thanks for your indulgance.
I know I'll be wearing one of my many BA.com rally shirts so just look for that and introduce yourself. The more of us that are together the better and that way you can get all of us answering you questions at the same time to confuse you.
Some of us are going to the Triumph sponsored dinner Saturday night but I don't know how long we will be there for it and I'm sure we will be meeting up with the others after.

Well Nancy and I got back from Mid-Ohio last night. Wow, I did not expect that.
The event was enormous. So many beautiful, old bikes and Triumphs everywhere. Ohio must have sold 90% of the 2003 Caspian Blue America's because there were six different ones that I counted.
We met up with Phil (popcorn) on Saturday and we spent the day walking around looking at the bikes and hoping to run into someone we knew. We were parked near the race track in the infield so we watched some of that. If I had known how big this thing was I would have tried to organize a better on meeting up with people since I was looking forward to seeing privateer and stormcloud again and hoping to meet some more new members.
In the Triumph through history tent we met the beautiful Vera Lynn modelling. Six years later and she doesn't look a day over warranty.
The new model was unveiled and, yes it was the 50th anniversary Bonneville. Very nice but not what I was hoping for and nothing really that exciting but I realize this wasn't the event to unveil a cruiser.
The Triumph dinner was well put together and the food was overflowing. We had some great people sitting at our table with us so the conversation never stopped or dragged on.
There were a large number of America's and Speedmasters but no owners to talk to so we couldn't know if it was someone we knew from here. Maybe next year we can arrange a private meet and greet for all of us.
Now of course there was one thing that was a shocker and for those of you who know me this really isn't out of the ordinary.
This part of Ohio the landscape starts to roll. You know the type of roads that are like an oversized kiddie roller coaster. I'm leading Biker on the road to the track and as I crest one of these hills and start into the valley below I see a giant feathered creature on two long legs emerge from the woods on the left of the road and sprint across. Backing off on the throttle I say out load, "what the ****** is that?" This thing is huge! My only conclusion is that, somewhere out there is a zoo or private owner pining away for their lost Ostrich.
So when travelling through Ohio I warn everyone to be on the lookout for Ostrich.

Got home from Mid-Ohio about 6pm Sunday. Had to be creative about which route to take once I got near Indy. The Brickyard race was so long cause of tire issues, traffic around Indy was tied up till 10pm. Had a great time friday and Sat night, it was great seeing Wojo and Nancy and Ed and Vicki, congrats to Vicki for winning the Retro Jacket, No Ed they will not make it to fit you! The RAT dinner was unbelievable, we were all expecting burgers, instead they served T-bones and Chicken. Triumph did a good job all around for the whole weekend. Hope to see some of you in Indianapolis in Sept. for the Moto-Gp, First time since 1909 they have had motorcycle races at Indy. The new bike course is great, already tried it out. Biker and Dingua start planning the New York rally too. Steve_Sixmil

I told Wo Jo that I would post and not be a lurker anymore. I met Wo Jo and Biker in the Rat parking area at Mid-Ohio. I had one of the 2003 Caspian Blue Americas you mentioned. Mine was the one with the checkered flag pattern on the tank. It was a great time. I was there with the Indy RAT Pack. I look forward to seeing some of you guys at a ba.com rally sometime.

Good to hear from you Buck. Very nice bike you had and it would have been nice to get a chance to talk more. There's a rally in September in New York state and the guys that put it on do a great job.

Valid question! 200 members go to a place where there are 50000 Triumphs (not to mention the lovely Vera Lynn) and what we get is the picture of that Canadian Ostrich

Well Jeff and I didn't make it to Mid Ohio. I had a friend come into town from PA and her and I went to Wetzels for the weekend. It is one of the largest biker partys in Ohio. I didn't see as many Triumphs as you guys did but I did see one other Triumph. I am sorry that i missed all you guys especially you Wojo. Maybe we can make Mid Ohio a yearly gathering.
