From new, my rear sprocket on my 07 S/M has had about 10 mm movement I went to the dealer and he said that is how they are and that they almost feel worn out when they are new. To me there is too much slop from de-acceleration to acceleration at slow speed (in the wet it is dangerous going around corners).Checked out a mates Thruxton and there is no backlash at all. Is there a mod to fix the problem or what?

TBS cush rubbers are reported to do the deed. I'll be hunting some myself pretty soon as my cush drive is getting really sloppy.

Another solution is strips of leather in there to take up the slack.

I used pieces of rubber from the sidewall of an old tire to shim up my original. Worked for a long time. I replaced it with the updated Triumph part that Ed mentioned when I installed a new chain and sprockets the other day. Very tight fit! No more slop. Feels great now.

ditto, with pieces of rubber from wall moulding from Lowes'. I have photos after 5,000 miles, but can't use the photopost. They have no discernable wear, and still no backlash.
