Mine just started to Quit after 2 1/2 years, and was wondering if this is normal.

Original battery since November '03, started up fine this morning. I know it's on borrowed time, but it is much better than the yumacron I had some years ago. I went on a 2 week vacation a couple months after I bought it and when I came back, it had sulfated and was worthless.

My 2002 S4 uses the same battery as my 07 SM...the S4's OEM battery gave it up for good last summer (2007), & I replaced it with this:

My o2 BA battery lasted4 years and I replace it. Wal-Mart and that lasted 1-1/2 years. May check out Auto Zone or Sears next.

I was so much older then, I am younger than that now (Wrote By Dylan Sung by the BYRDS,)

I still have the OEM Battery in my pre-fire 02 America. Not sure how much longer it will last. Being in Florida that is pretty good since most car batteries only last about 3 or 4 years in the Florida heat.

Stock since March '02. Started acting up a couple years ago but the Battery Tender brought it back and it's been trouble free since.

My first lasted only 1 year - dead short in the battery. The second lasted 2 years - died during the NE Rally last year. I have no idea why so short a life - I use the bike frequently - almost daily from April through November, and whenever the temp is 45 or about in winter - and - I use a tender. I might do well some day to check the charging voltage - I might be "cookin'" them. Another thought is the batteries themselves - I may try another brand some day. These have all been the O.E.M batteries and dealer supplied - could be the batteries or the initial charge.

My 03 had it's battery changed to go to Dent. Bearing in mind it doesn't have an optimate, tender or whatever else you wish to call it... She had 8 months of being not road worthy after the crash and we put the superchrger on it and it was fine. Well... it was for that weekend. I don't have a trickle charger for the 06....he's used most days.

I now have a solar powered tickle charger for the 03, but it's still not on....

Yes if dropped hard enough to damage the plates or dilodge them.

04 still working fine all I do is take it out and put it in the basement when it gets cold . My winters are harsh. In the winter highs will be 10 deg. F or colder. In riding season I just ride it and no problems. Love the heated vest extends the season.

Two years on the OEM.
The replacement has two years on it and seems fine. I'll see how it handles the heat this summer.

Mine was still going strong after 3 1/2 years but I thought it prudent to change it for my big upcoming trip to the States... Besides, my girlfriend is the battery lady in town and she gave me one for free...

Having picked up the 06 today after having 2.5 hours labour and the fuse box cleaned up from all the oxidation in it...and a new battery fitted,....
Do not understand. The 03's battery was changed 6 weeks ago, and I haven't treated the 06 any differently.
And I got the 06 in November 06, does that mean they may hae been a dodgy batch over here?

I replaced my OEM battery after 3 years, but don't recall it ever failing me...it just felt like something I should do.

The new INTERSTATE battery did not last a year, and come to find out it only carried a 6-month warranty, anyway. Left me stranded a couple of hours waiting on a jump.

I bought another INTERSTATE (and will keep track of the receipt this time!), but my next battery will either be another YUASA, or a WESCO.

Why do they warrant car batteries for years?

Motorcycle batteries have to be made smaller and lighter, are (usually) vibrated and bounced about more, and are more exposed to extreme conditions of heat, cold and wet. Also, motorcycle charging system regulators violate the Einstein axion by being more simple than possible.

Good one.
I was gonna ride to work and changed my mind at the last minute cause it looked like it might drizzle (I had finally washed my bike for the first time this year and didn't want it to get all dirty again. Yea yea, I'm a Nancy) but anyway it started pouring, thunder and severe lightning. Good call Nancy.
