Currently have a 17 tooth sprocket and do about 4200 RPM at 70 MPH. Does anyone have a 19 tooth and if so would they let me know their RPM's at 70mph.
Thanks

I do about 4000rpm at 70, 4500 at 80 in 5th gear...give or take a bit. I like what the 19T did for me for fwy riding but the pick up I used to get in 5th isnt there...have to remember to downshift now and 5th is really only used on Fwy now.
try this calculator out http://www.gearingcommander.com/ (I think Soren originally posted it). Stock on my 07 America was a 42 rear and 18 front (I think).

I just installed a 19T on mine. I don't have a tach either. I don't know how it would do with a stock motor, but with the 904 it works great for me. I rejetted from 140/42 to 150/45 at the same time I installed the 19T (up from 18T)and picked up 12 MPG! Now i'm back up to 50MPG and loving it!

hi! This may be a dumb question. I just resently got my 04 TBA and have been reading alot on this forum. With an endless chain, can I go up a tooth (17 to 18) without doing anything to my chain? (Other than an adjustment) What about 2 teeth? thanks

With the 42 rear sprocket and stock chain you can go up to 18 or 19 with enough adjusting range. Going up a tooth on the front sprocket makes a noticeable difference. The only cost about $20. and I would suggest going up only up one tooth and riding awhile to see how you like it.

The only drawback I found with a 19 toofer (and a 42) is the engine works pretty hard and lugs at under 3,500 RPM. If memory serves, top gear wanted more like 3,700 or 3,800 under load to smooth out the engine.
It takes a little extra clutch slip and throttle to launch them too, so as not to hear the pistons slap.
The on highway part is great though. Not so great around town, but you can get used to it.

I have a 17 tooth on my 790 Speedie and I would not go any higher.
I find it to be optimal but even with a 17 tooth the ability to move out quick from a stop light is slightly degraded. I am sure an 18 tooth would be even more so and a nineteen tooth would be lug city big time.

Running a 17 tooth on the speedy as well. Good combination of city and highway riding, would not go anouther tooth higher. Did 300K yesterday running between 4000 and 4500 rpm on the highway hums nice in that range, runs like a jack rabbit in the city.

I have run a 19tooth for the last 8000 miles and love it in town and on the highway. When you have baffleless specialty spares installed, you need lower rpms on the road or you will be ticketed and become DEAF! No chain mods required, just a rear adjustment. My rpms at 70 are 3600ish with stock motor. No problems pushing the bike. It is still quick! If I had wanted a rocket, I wouldve bought just that! Good luck. I reccomend 19 all the way!
Best looking black girl around!

Changed out to a 19T Sprocket today and after a trial run....all I can say is WOW!. Finally found 6th gear and 3rd really becomes useful around town. I can cruise smoothly at 60 mph at 3200 rpm. If you're condidering this mod....do it!
Question... the original Triumph sprocket has rubber type pads on each side and the new 19T Brent sent me does not, what is the purpose of those rubber thingys and do you need them on the replacement sprocket? Don

When fleeing the scene, almost 50 in 1st, almost 90 in 2nd, pegged it in 4th.

I think the rubber pads are to reduce drivetrain noise a bit. Act as a mini shock absorber. That's my take on them.
I went from the OEM 17 tooth to an 18. BTW I have an indicated 3400rpms at 100kph which is around 60mph.

Thanks for the info Greg. I've dropped 2 to 300rpm from where you're at with the 19T. I'm really liking it!
