Just bought my America and took it home yesterday ( 2003, 9000 km ) I am not an experienced rider ( only my 2nd bike) but I love this bike already. The only thing I want to change immediately is the pipes. The sound is too low and I want some more noise. When I install aftermarket pipes, do I need to rejet? Any ideas of what pipes to install? Was on the audio page and I really liked the JC Whitney Stainless Exhaust. Where can I get them? Thanks,

Hej Sven och välkommen! If you want the JC Whitney pipes, you'll have to order them from the US. When it comes to jetting or not, it depends on if you just will change the pipes or if you will open up for more air to really let the new freer (sp) flowing pipes get you more power. More air in / out needs more fuel... Raask (Småland) makes aftermarket pipes for our bikes. Have a look at their homepage here. Btw. where in Sweden are you?

Some aftermarket pipes require a jet change, some don't. The ones that do often come with a jet kit. The JC Whitney pipes will probably require rejetting but, because they are not specifically intended for any one bike, you are on your own as far as jets are concerned. The Thunderbike Pipes from Australia and the Triumph offroad pipes are claimed to not require rejetting, but will probably perform better if you do it anyway.

That was my sound bite and I asked that they take off the "stainless". These are not stainless pipes but rather chromed. Still I like them and they are mean and loud compared to the sewing machine sound of new. You vill need to rejet. Jetting will also depend on your intake changes if any.

I bought Raask pipes and the sound was first too loud and metallic for my ears. Put some extra fiberglass (250gr./pipe) and noise went down and got much deeper tone. Rejetted main jets to 135, pulled snorkel out and remover air injection. Now I'm satisfied.
