Has anybody heard anything about this website? The idea is to separate the hydrogen from water and inject it into the fuel mixture. They say it dramatically increases gas mileage. Any thoughts? www.water4gas.com

The local TV station did a story on a guy somewhere near Huntsville that has a similar setup and he's averaging 51 mpg in his 70s Cadillac. Wonder what it will end up doing to the longevity of the engine?

In chemistry class, they used to tell us that it takes more energy to knock water apart than you gain putting it back together. Also, considering how violently hydrogen burns, you would have to be very careful not to blast holes in your pistons. Water injection is probably nearly as effective and a lot safer. Hydrogen based fuel does have a lot of potential. So does hydrogen peroxide for that matter, but it will take some special engineering to make it halfway safe. (ask the Zeplin works ) Something that has a lot of potential and is available is CNG/diesel technology. So far, it's only used on large marine and railroad engines, but the principle is sound. They inject CNG in an amount based on power needed, same as diesel. Then, because the flashpoint is a little higher than you can get with compression ignition, they inject a tiny amount of diesel to light it off. They get about the same power as pure diesel, but it's a lot cheaper and cleaner.

Don't believe everything - it takes HUGE amounts of energy to separate water into its' proprietary elements - hydrogen and oxygen .

I read somewhere about hydrogen powered cars and like stated above it would take more to break down the water than would be gained to propel it, like trying to invent a propetual motion machine ( I invented one by the way but didn't want to ruin the oil companies fun.)

That is UNLESS you ALSO happen to have one of those Helmholtz thing-a-ma-bobs attached to your Caddy TOO! And THEN you'd have an UNLIMITED SUPPLY of clean burning energy available to YOU in which to travel the world for FREE!!!
Right Wade???!!!

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

And yet I watched the guy in Hunstville motoring down the road in his 70s Caddy getting 51 mpg...I seen it on TV...I did, I did...
In reality this probably has the same sort of basis as the 100 mpg carb, not a realistic achievement but it can sure be made to look good.

It may have just been drunk talk, but I heard from an old salt about some guy who claimed to have developed a catalyst to make water into fuel. He gave the navy department a demo, pouring his wonder tonic into a gallon of water, and then pouring it into the tank of a 3 cylinder motorlaunch engine. The engine started and, with some fiddling with the carburettor, it ran just fine. After collecting some promises and requests for further demos for various agencies, he walked out and was never seen again. After analyzing the residue in the tank, they figured out that the wonder catalyst was acetone and the water was just there to thin it out.

Been hearing on the radio lately what they are calling the 331 recipe that is suppose to almost double your mileage. For every ten gallons of gas, add 3oz of Acetone, 3oz of Xylene and 1oz of 5/40 synthetic oil. I dont know if it works or not, I haven tried it yet. But with us in oregon being forced to use E10, and prices at $4.00 a gallon, I just might try it in my car.

Uhhhh . . . tell me how that works for you. I'm right behind you if it's any good.

There was a guy, back in the day in Columbus, Ohio that supposedly had it all figured out. This guy was either a kook, a genius, or both. He had MANY patents in his name about hydrogen separation, hydrogen as a fuel, etc. Google him (Stanley Meyer)and you'll find lots of cool stuff, lots of conspiracy theory, etc. Here's a local news cast from back in the day: link He supposedly had OPEC, the US Gov't, etc very interested. He would not sell his major patent or tell how he seperated the water though for fear of how it would be used (or because it was bunk, take your pick). So it gets interesting... He finally came to terms with someone on this and went with his brother to a local eatery to meet some men that he was going to sell this to. He takes a drink, immediately says to his brother "they've poisoned me", runs out of the restaurant and dies. Autoposy results are "inconclusive" and his dinner guests disappear into thin air. Very interesting story. I work with someone who met him a few times and states he was definitely different and you could tell the guy was a very intelligent man. Supposedly the dune buggy in this video is still in the central Ohio area in someone's basement. The local paper just did a story on it within the last year and the reporter got to see it, but would not tell where. I'm not a conspiracy nut because most of the conspiracy theories you hear sound like dorks that just want something to believe in, but this one has always interested me. There are a lot of people in the area that knew this guy and vouched for him. His mysterious death adds to the lore.
