My girlfriend decided she was finally ready to climb back onto my bike. Her first experience didn't go too well. She has had problems with her hips since high school and sitting in a single position doesn't help.
We went on ride and was about 40 miles one way. And that's about all she could take before needing to stop. Well at the end of the day I asked her what problems she was experiencing. Mostly it was her tailbone getting jarred around, having to sit in a single position and not able to flex her hips and of course numb butt.
I was hoping to do Skyline Drive here in VA this Saturday. She wants to go also and said she'd just pop some kicking asprin prior to riding.
So to any passengers out there, is there anything you've learned from your experiences that have made your ride time more bareable and enjoyable? I'd hate to think my gf has to drug herself anytime we decide to ride past the city limits.

You might try moving the rear pegs. They are the same thread as the bolts that hold the hangers to the frame. Try taking off the hangers and mount the pegs in the upper or lower holes. This will move the pegs forward several inches and up or down a couple depending on which holes you use. If you use the top ones, you'll need to put bolts back in the lower hole because they also hold the pipes in place.
It will cost a little, but it shouldn't be too hard to adapt the rear footboards from an HD tour bike. That way, she'll be able to move around a bit.

Thanks guys. I'll take a look at adjusting the pegs. The other suggestions are good too; was just hoping not to put money into this but will if I must. She's already talking about her own bike...let's hope that's the case. Would love to see her on her own ride.
Anyway, another thing I didn't do, was this time around I didn't adjust the shocks. I left them for solo riding hoping it wouldn't be so stiff and jarring for her. The crappy interstate roads or the Hampton area proved me wrong on that.
